hmmm
"I have been told it is not as fun or "upgradable" as the 2.0L engine"

i don't know if this is correct, most ap2 (2004+) complaints in regards to peformance is the lack of the 9000 redline. and for the 2006+ models, not all aftermarket exhausts are compatible as of yet. i dont believe there is anything else in regards to performance between the ap1 and ap2. the ap2 has equally the same amount of parts/upgrades

All I see is a bunch of statements and no questions.

I have the MY03. It has the glass window, an upgraded stereo and it has the "fun"factor you want. I don't think you can go wrong with any S but check the history and the maintenance to be careful. Enjoy and cruise with attitude

Purchase your S (AP1,AP2) because of color, condition ,milage and price.
Now that this particular problem is over with, you can begin to think about other things that may improve your purchase. Good luck

i honestly think the MY02's and MY03's are the best. i like the ap2 cause of the suspension and interior upgrade, but i'm not too crazy about the look and it's more expensive. if you like the look of the ap2 and you can afford it, i would say to get the MY06 cause it has the Monte Carlo Blue you were talking about, and VSA.

The most collectable IMDO would be the 02-03's. They have all of the essential things like a glass rear window, and they retain the "rawness" of the car.

I daily drive my 06 and wanted the bigger engine and "softer" supension of the AP2. I liked the style of the AP2 more; I think it looks a bit meaner and has bigger wheels. But if I could have bought an AP1 when it was new, I would have done so in a heartbeat.

If he is looking to make it a drifter I don't think he'll be too big on the VSA.

Couple things for hearts:
1. IMDO (you have to tell them what it means so it will catch on)
for those wondering...it's "In My Definitive Opinion". Humble Opinions are for people who are wrong.

2. hearts writes: "I daily drive my 06 and wanted the bigger engine and "softer" supension of the AP2."
I'm sick of your compromising.

3. hearts writes: "I think it looks a bit meaner and has bigger wheels"
Go out and measure them and you won't have to 'think' it anymore...you'll see it's fact.

jk hearts... you rock!!!!

If you are gonna make your next car a drift car, go out and buy one of the cheaper S2000's. That way you didnt #### up a $20,000+ car when you slide into a curb.

Thats just my honest opinion. I have been into the drift scene for awhile and it puts alot of wear and tear on your car.

So be a smart person and buy a cheaper one.
