Hey everyone,

I'm a newbie and am in the process of researching and purchasing an S. But a local dealer has a 2002 blue model with a blue soft top. Except every picture I've seen of a blue S2000 has a black soft top. Did the factory ever offer different colored tops?

What I'm worried about is, if this item is not factory, what else on the car is not factory? For example, the interior doesn't really look like leather either, it looks more like vinyl, but I have no other 2002 S2000 to compare it to. Can anyone provide some insight?

 

the blue top is a factory accessory, all cars come with black. no other colors are available.

 

Thanks for the info. So it is a FACTORY installed option though? Meaning the original purchaser paid some premium to get the blue top from the factory?

 

It might've come that way from the factory, or the owner might've done a replacement. You might be able to tell if you have a factory invoice.

As for the interior, we can't really help you without some pictures or something to look for tell-tale signs.

 

Thanks for the info. I went back to the dealership today to look at the car in the sunlight and the interior color looked a lot different. Must have been the lot lighting before that made it look more purple and vinyl like.

I took some photos and I'd like to upload them to get others opinions, but don't see a way to do that here. How do I do that on this forum?

Last of all, they are offering the vehicle for 239/month for 5 years with $2999 to start. It's an MY02 with 32,500 miles. To me it sounds like a long lease with too much down and too much per month. What's everyone else think?
