Check out the Carolinas forum. There are a bunch of owners in the Columbia area. Also there is an autocross at the State Faigrounds next Saturday, June 10.

I have never autocrossed my S, so this looks like a good opportunity. Come by and say hello. I will be in the 06 Silverstone Black/Red, bone stock, and probably slower than most.

I'd like to see your MUZ mirror

Steve,

Welcome to s2ki.com.

$31K is pretty good, Steve (you're talking about a new MY06, right). You could probably do a little better than that, but of course spring is a harder time to buy than winter when some folks got closer to 30K.

As for your point about the car being 6 years old, well, the MY06 does have some new features (drive-by-wire, stability assist). That said, the S really doesn't have any peers, despite being 6 years old. Final comment is that there's still no actual word about the model being cancelled. Current May figures for year-to-year sales only show the S down about 2% or so (in the US). So....

Best wishes in your choice. Also, please feel free to go check out our Vintage (owners) forum for folks > 40.

Thanks Chazmo - Yes, the car is a MY06 Berlina Black - it included an ipod hookup (not sure how it works yet - it will be installed later) and a titanium shift nob - on order. Hope I like it - I'm getting use to the standred model - Got all of this for $31, 500 OTD (the taxes, registration, etc. came to about $500 in SC. I've had a chance to put on about 250 miles in the past 2 days - I really love this car - it does feel like a slot car in turns. Like I said before I thought it would be a chore to keep it above 5K but I can see it won't be - I have to be careful now not to get it above that.

Thanks for the tip about the Vintage forum - I didn't realize it was for vintage owners, thought it was for vintage cars! (should have realized that car has only been in production less than 10 years)

The dealership has left me a couple of messages asking me about my satisfaction with the S2000 - I'm going to tell them if I had know it was this good I wouldn't have tried to negoiciate so hard for the price ; )

Well thanks for the great forum - its already been a great help for me - don't see too many S2000 down here in Columbia SC.

I started trying to register a member yesterday and got tangled up somewhere in the process - will try again tomorrow. Steve

Steve, I have been contemplating getting a titanium shift nob. After you have used it for a while, please let me know how you like it. I like the contours and aesthetics it brings to the cockpit... but for $125, just would be nice to hear some feedback regarding this, as I have not seen anyone who has one. Thanks.

I have had the Ti knob (Honda's, that is) since I bought my car. I like it a lot. I'm kind of a Ti nut though. If they made the S2000 in Ti, I'd buy it that way.

The shift knobs are kind of interesting to me. The stock shift knob is Al with black leather, but you have to pay extra to get one without leather??? The Ti knob looks exactly the same as the Al knob other than a slightly darker color. I love Ti too(wedding ring, watch) but $149 for a Ti knob that has no advantage over the standard Al one is kind of crazy....

I'm not entirely rational when it comes to Ti.

FYI, the factory Ti shift knob is actually modeled very much after the MY00-MY01 stock Al shift knob (which didn't have the leather band that was introduced in MY02)...
