Thanks for the insight guys. I'm going to check out a few S2K's this week again. I have some research and driving to do!

I already know I'm going to miss the torque...

I'm looking for a car that I don't have to modify to be happy.
These 2 sentences seem to contradict each other. If you have a torque fetish you're probably going to feel a need to mod it to increase the torque. However, if you can appreciate the S for what it is then it would probably be a good choice.

I auto cross frequently and know how well the S2K is in the stock form but how are they to DD?
It's a matter of subjective preference. Some people love them as DD's. Some don't. The downsides to DD'ing an S are pretty obvious (small trunk, one passenger seat, stick shift in traffic, etc). If you can live with those shortcomings it's a great DD.

I had an '07 STi and sold it recently for my '07 s2000.

First off, you're going to love the s2000. The fit and finish is excellent, it handles well, and of course the drop-top. But the thing that sold me right away was the transmission. Shifting is so smooth and easy.

However once you sell the STi, you are going to miss it. The torque and that boxer rumble can not be replaced. Everytime I hear that sound on the road, it makes me miss my old car.

Best of both worlds, own both. haha.

FlyingJ you stole the words right outta my mouth, I too owned an 07 sti and now have an 07 s2k. I have no problem living with the lack of torque just miss the sound of that boxer rumble. I DD the S2k and the feeling the car gives you is incredible cannot compare the sti to it.

You'll love the S. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't drive my AP1 and after little over two years I put 46K miles on her. Perfect for DDing if you take the car for what it is. I hate when people complain about the lack of space and creature comforts in the S. That's like buying and H2 and complaining about gas consumption.

Just don't expect to win too many drag races and you'll be fine!

the s2000 is fine for DD... i dindt go thru all the posts so not sure where you're located, but obviously if there's a lot of snow you might have a problem. I know a bunch of people that daily s2k's and have had no problems. Not to mention the good gas mileage you're gonna get compared to the sti

Ditto here........I DD mine and LOVE it--by far the best car I've owned; as many others have said, it just "feels" right! I'm 6'2" and don't find it too cramped either, it's nice and snug, but I like that feeling.
It just feels like the S becomes one with you (possibly the other way around or both even)!
