Default Test Drove an S2000 Today.

So I test drove an S2000 today. An 04' with 3,500 miles in yellow and they're asking $27,995. I would never pay this much for an 04 but I just wanted to drive the car. I almost bought an S2000 back in April but bought an RSX instead. I must say, the S2000 is an awesome car to drive. I really enjoyed the superb handling and "go-cart" like feel. I can definately picture myself owning one of these in the near future.

Yeah.. one thing I forgot to mention was that I traded the RSX last week for an SRT-4 (sadly). Needless to say, I found out the hard way that straight line power wasn't what I needed out of a car, so the SRT is for sale. Once sold, i'll be driving a beater for a few months until i've got a decent down payment on something else. Sure hoping it's an s2k. mmm such fun.

Oh dang ... sorry to hear that man. You must be giving up a lot on depreciation and stuff for flipping cars like pan cakes! I guess there are things that test drives don't tell you eh? That's why I drove the S2000 many times (different ones, and mainly used ones from dealers) before deciding on getting one -- well, I actually didn't feel anything would really change my mind, since I really liked the car since it came out hehehe.

Anyway, good luck! Hope you can sell your Neon quickly and head towards happy honda land hehe

Wow, that's asking too much. My black '05 had 1,800 miles on it, and I got it for $26,500.

I can never understand why people jack up the ask price so much. I mean, we all know those prices aren't reasonable.

When I was looking for an S a few weeks ago, I called a dealer to ask about an 05 in inventory. The sales person said they are selling it for 30,888. I'm like, "Are you serious?" The salesman said that's the best they can offer. I gave them my offer (~28.5K), and they told me they would never sell a car under the invoice. I'm thining to myself ... there is a hold back as well, also, the car's old. We are in almost the middle of 06 already, whent he 2007 models are about to come out. I said the 06 had nicer seats and VSA, etc. Biut of course ... VSA was the reason why I didn't want the 06 heheheh

Anyway, I got my 05 in end of April for 28,325. You always need to put your foot down. Dealers/sellers always try to rip people off. I can never understand that phenomenon. I mean, most people who buy the car probbably knows what's the bottom line of the price anyways ... why waste people's time on "negotiation"????? When there is really one price that is fair both parties ...

It's stupid

My point is ... try looking for a new 2005 leftover. There may still be some of them around. You can probably get those for around 28K or so ... good luck!

The sad thing is.. most people DON'T know the bottom line price. Those dealers don't hassle you to lose customers, they are looking for the weak links. People overpay for cars 1000 times a day. About 80% of people that buy a car don't look up how much it is really worth until after they buy it. Trust me, I turn over a used car every two months as a 'side job'. Everything from accords, to ls400's, to sportbikes. A hundred people get ripped off for every one person that truly gets a 'good' deal.

bottom line is there's an ass for every seat......there's no such thing as priced to high if some idiot pays the big number so what. A dealer can come down on a high price, but almost never will the "low price" go up. There are so many variables in selling a car, caveat emptor (sp) rules the day.

Hey, it's what the market is willing to bear. Friend of mine paid 70K or so for a Ferrari Dino a couple of years ago, probably dumped 30K or so into it on a wonderful (but driveable) restoration, and was just offered $250K for it! (yes, he unloaded it... who wouldn't?)

Go figure.
