Use S2ks overprice?
I almost bought a boxster 3 years ago, I thought young 21 male in a porsche, would be nice. Test drove a black one, found it a bit boring and the interior really boring.
Really liked the S2000, so went for a test drive right after the porsche and fell in love with the s2k. bought it that day.
the color i wanted to, berlina black with red interior, just looked soo sexy with the lip, side strakes and spoiler, had to have it.
I love my baby

My cousin has an 03 Boxter, I had it for a weekend. It looks real good and people stare at you like you are a rock star. But I found the car really boring to drive. My 04 S2000 was way more fun and people who know cars really appreciate it and the ones who dont know about cars, always ask what type of car it is or are way off on the make and model year. I would consider a Boxter S if I had to choose, but otherwise I would always stick with the S2K any day of the week. Oh yeah, I think the Boxter is a little bit more comfortable to sit in over the S2K, but that still does not make up for the fun factor difference the S2k provides. Also owning a S2K is more exclusive than owning a Boxter, I see so many Boxter's that the wow factor is not that high, but when I see a S2K, I still get wowed by the car and know how much fun and happy the owner is driving the car.
I just picked up a 2005 Suzuka Blue with barely 5000 miles on it for $29,200 AFTER tax, title and license. I think the retail was $26,900. Maybe it's because I'm in SoCal and like no one out here drives stick...
another explaination for the perceived "overprice" is that cars depreciate in a curve, which flattens out as the cars get older. 04-05 cars are in the free fall of depreciation that is the first 2 years of a car's life.
KBB on a 50k MY00 or 01 is the in the $15-$18k range which shows that the car has lost 45-50% of its value, which is about where they are going to stay for a while now (except for milage and condition)
The thing is a MY00-01 is still a bargin considering how much car you get for the money. Yeah, you can get a much newer car for $5-7k more, but if you can't afford to spend that extra money, there's no reason wait around for the rest of your life....
That's what I'm about to do.
