Default Used 06?

So whatdya think guys, how much should one offer for a used 06 Honda Certified? I think it's a bit exempt from the common place price thing cause this can be dead and buried once it's done, because this will be completely useless after this one example. The odds of finding another used 06 this early(before 'official' pricing appears) will be next to nill . Anyways it's MY color LBP used (wife said nono to the car), what's a good price. 30k too low? too high? thoughts?

Thanks

And after I reach a conclusion I'll close and/or delete this thread. Chazmo if you feel this does indeed deserve to be in the sticky, feel free to move it there

That's fine, big guy...

I'd say offer 29K and see where it takes you. I think if you can get it for around 30K, that'd be pretty reasonable considering it's practically new. If it has a HT, add a grand.

lowest they'll say they'll go is 30 grand, take it? used honda certified so it's got a freaking ridiculously long warranty on it. Honestly I wanted to go 1-2 grand below that as I can get a brand new one here for 32 grand...

any input? also looking at a used 2004 in the meantime with low miles, so this isn't my only option, just seems a little too pricey for me for a technically 'used' car.

Then again and this is just my opinion. But you would have to think to yourself, "why is there already a used '06 on the market already?"

I would just opt for the new one.

Why would there be an '06 already used? Was it a dealer use car? Or was it someone who bought the car and realized they couldn't afford it? In either case the car was probably abused, I would say just buy new. Just my $.02.

There's a million and one reasons why someone might quickly dump a car that have nothing to do with any kind of lemon problem... Could be "Well, the Escalade I was cross-shopping when I bought my S has a softer ride and more seats; I really should've gone for that" to "Well, it turns out my drug habit was really quite a bit more expensive than I expected, and I really shouldn't be driving anyway..."

I think buying a used car makes sense if you can get a screaming good deal. Bargain hard; you're in the driver seat. I think if you get this near/under 29, Freakazoid, you'll be rockin'.

yea i told them to give me a call if they're willing to go beyond that price, i'll try calling later if i can't get any other decent deals lined up.

thanks for the responses guys!

also as for the reason? it's a reason I can believe, apparently guy bought the car, and took it home, wife said **** no you're not getting that car and he had to take it back. for a car like that i could see someone doing something stupid impulsively..... but also on that note. imagine being him, you just bought the car you gotta take it back, you're going to go take it out for a good few miles and ride it HARD (remember no vtec before 500 miles) which is the reason why I'm sticking for a lower price..

for the price they want it's better for the new, however i was hoping to save a couple/few grand for taking the chance.

but yea i accept it was probably driven hard, however only 200 miles, so i'd like to hope not all thos emiles were hard miles?

Imagine being that guy and having a wife that tells you that you can't have the car you want. That's a relationship made to last.

lol yea I know, seriously.....

also to stack on that the MAJOR money hit his wife would have forced him to take, I guarantee dealership didn't give him more than 27-28 grand for the now titled car..... that's a solid like 5-6 grand hit he took, what he should have said was if they hadn't taken that hit, what he could have bought HER with the money

but apparently the quote the guy told the salesman "it'll cost me more for a divorce than it will be to trade-in this car"... what a lovely way to think of your marriage? lol
