Default want to drive one, Wilmington NC

Hi--I'm Phillip and I live in Wilmington, NC. I would very much like to drive an S2000 nearby if I can find someone who is willing to let me; I do not want to test-drive a car that's for sale (assuming I can find one nearby) because I will not be ready to buy until next summer and I don't want to waste someone's time. I've read a lot on the S2K and it sounds like a very strong possibility but of course cars like that have to be driven. In order to get a feel for what I would actually be buying, it would need to be (preferably) an AP2, totally stock (not a CR). If anyone sees this and could help, that would be great.

I do not think you would be wasting a seller's time, as who knows you might fall in love and buy it. Try looking for one at a dealership, used car lots, etc. I am sure in a years time you could find one. I just think you might have better luck there. You might find a S owner here who will help you out and I hope you do but... it would kind of be a waste of my time to let you drive my car (a total stranger from a forum). Like no offense or anything but why would I do that? So some guy I do not know could maybe someday own one?????

I would like to drive a Lambo but I would not go to their web forum and ask for a car to drive. That is just me, and I am known, in some circles, to be a dick!

I see you would like a AP2 and not CR and totally stock. I can tell you that the totally stock guys are pretty anal on who drives there cars so again good luck. Oh any particular color?

Hey, i am not too far away...about 2 hours, you can drive mine...LOL, NOT. Just go to a dealership, they are used to guys jerking them around and not buying one. You would just be another guy who drives and doesn't buy.

To each his own; I helped run a sailboat board for years and if someone who was looking to buy a P-28 asked to go out on one, any of us would have stepped up to that right away. It's not as though you're asking to take it out by yourself.

I'm not getting a great vibe from this so far.

Don't let this deter you. People are passionate (and protective) about their cars and an S2000 is not just any car. This is the internet, you can be anyone, good or bad. But we don't know that. We're all pretty much strangers to each other. We just share a common interest.

I'm a local, (Wilmington) and I would be more than willing to take you for a ride in my car but I'm going to be honest........I doubt an of the S2000 owners here are going to let you drive theirs. The Honda dealership on College Rd gets one every now and then, and there is a yellow one for sale on Craigslist that the owner may be willing to let you test drive.

However, near as I know there aren't any completely stock S2000s around Wilmington.
