Default WHAT S2K DO I GET?

ok first let me tell you a secret....i have never been a fan of honda ....ok i know there is going to be alot of comments on that but please be kind....i guess it was the fast and fake movies and all the ricers out there that killed me.....

ok now to the important part i stoped by the local honda dealership...ok let me be honest i was really aiming for the subaru delership that shares the same lot....but i was stopped in the tracks by this hot black CR S2000....i was standing there trying not to get any drool on the black paint when the lot guy came up and was talking to me...we went through all the usual..pop the hood sit in it so on so on....and he handed me the keys and told me to start er up.....i loved that growl...he went in and get the plates and let me take it up the road...I WAS HOOKED...the throttle response is insane and i couldnt belive how fast i got it up to 90.....shhh dont tell the cops ....

ok i got the bug bigtime now but i cant afford the 30k for a new one so im going used....ok guess help me out

pros and cons between the 2 versions?....i know one has a 2.0 and the newer ones have a 2.2

please tell me all you can so i know what to look for...

oh one more thing....once again i have never driven a honda before but i have been told what VTEC is...the lot attendent told me that in the S2K the vtec is always working but i thought the vtec kicks in when you hit a certan RPM

THANKS!!!!!!!

Best thing you can do is drive a few. You have one under your belt, a good one, now find an AP1 (2000 to 2003) and an AP2 (2004-present) and try those. AP1s are a bit rawer, higher redline, AP2s are a bit more comfortable, lower redline. See which one feels the best, AP1s are going for about half the cost of new, AP2s a little more. Also, try hooking in with some locals, check out the regional forums section, they can be very helpful. CRs certainly are nice but you can get a used one and build it to your specs, as there is a ton of aftermarket mods for the car and still be well below the cost of new. Good luck.

I was not a Honda fan when I bought mine. I say you will be very impressed with an S, at least I was!!
If you can afford it buy a CR of course with radio and AC you will get a unique S with improved handling, suspension and in the long run a collector's car. Well worth the money. My .02

The difference between AP1 and AP2 is nominal. If money is a factor, as it always is, go with the AP1 and save between $5k to $10k.

It's certainly a topic that has been beaten beyond death and there are plenty of threads to read. Best thing, as has already been said, is to test drive an AP1 and an AP2 and see which you prefer.
