What Year is the "Bad" Year?

There isnt a "bad year". If your asking which has the least options, 00-01. They have plastic rear window (02-up have glass) Old oil jet bolts (most 02's have the new ones, and all years up have the new ones), Carpet center console (02's - up have leather) Also 02 and 03 AP1s have the chrome circles in the taillights, while 00-01 does not.

i personally prefer the carpet interior of the 00-01 years. it gave the car a more purist vibe.
i guess the best answer to the original question is that first 2 model years are the least desirable of all years. but that does not mean that they were bad years.
in a nutshell the newer the model the "softer" honda made it. early AP1s were known to be tail happy and more "raw" and pretty much every two years honda made tweaks to make the car more comfortable and easier to manage at the limit. except for the CR model, which made steps to be closer to being AP1-ish with it's ap1 steering rack, thicker and thinner front and rear, respectively, sway bars and stiffer spring/shock combo.
