Worst Introduction EVER!
Hello everyone! This is perhaps one of the most informative forums ever. Great wealth of information.
So here it goes . . . Attempted to purchase a 2007 S2K advertised on carsforsale.com. Price was pretty much in line with KBB and some other sources. Emailed the seller as is required. And I am sure you already know what happened-- a shipper was the alledged mediator and they got me for almost $17,000. Prior to purchase, I bought the CarFax using the VIN provided. It said all of the usual stuff, but I was interested where the car was registered last, and it was Savannah, GA. Recent registration renewal, within 30 days of my "purchase". The CarFax even gave a title number in GA. Serviced at the Honda dealer in Savannah.
Then, the car appeared on carsforsale.com again, with the same VIN number. A friend tried to "buy" it, and actually contacted the alleged owner who claimed the SAME car was in Portugal and it could be shipped easily. The car is now on carsforsale.com three different times, now using different VIN numbers.
You probably have no idea how stupid I feel right now. This has been turned over to local law enforcement and they are investigating. But there goes my little dream of having an S2K, at least for now . . . . .
So be careful when you see the Rio Yellow S2K with the black wheels for sale!

I also e-mailed the guy about that car a few months ago when I was looking for my Rio. I've already deleted the e-mail he sent me back, but it went something like "I now live in Spain, but the car is at a friend's house in Georgia. If you want to see the car I can set it up with my friend, and I can also arrange shipping to your house." I thought it sounded fishy so I never got back to him... So sorry this happened to you!!

Something similar almost happened to me when I was selling off my exhaust from the DC5. dude texted me after like 10 minutes of having the ad up on Craigslist, saying he'll give me money if i pay for shipping so he can have pick up arranged.
I googled his number and he's a known clist scammer
I was like "no thanks Jeff!"
Really terrible thing to have happen OP. i hope you get your money back
