I can only imagine the dilemma. I had enough money to buy both, so I owned an 01 S and an 04 STI back in the day. Tough call for it being a daily driver. If I had to choose, I'd have ended up selling my S and would have chosen the STI. Harsh winters here, and I need cargo space. Good luck deciding!!

I will add my .02 =] So I have owned 2 Subaru's. My last STi was pretty much the love of my life however, completely stock I was getting 19mpg on average and at 95k (no problems whatsoever) I decided the mileage was up there and I should consider moving on. I bought my 02 3 months ago with 68k and must say stock for stock the S is SOOO much funner to drive. The power is lacking but I feel the pros outweigh the cons. I will 100% purchase another STI in the future but not until they figure out how to bump up that 305 mark theyve been stuck at for so many years (ie new mustangs v6 na make more power) I will say your practicality will take a complete dive and plan on buying a beater for winter if applicable. So many fewer s2k's on the road too =] =] =] I bought my STi stock in 08 and after all my blood here she was days before I sold her :

I say try something new!

I get 10 more mpg AND spend 60 per month on insurance instead of 80... The steering response is ungodly too

BTW, although the numbers are low, i was quite surprised by the torque even coming from an STi

^ Truth, my next adventure is going to be a 2000 Coupe with a v7 swap... definitely a different kind of fun. It always seems that nothing is ever good out of the box... my first civic was LS swapped, 2nd civic was b16 turbo swapped, my 2g dsm, i did a 6 bolt swap, my sti i did a front end swap, my jetta i did a golf front end swap... i hate this hobby.

no way. The subaru crowd is the smarter version of the VW crowd. All a**holes that think they are better than everyone. S2k community is the most appreciative forum i've ever been on. Probably not the smartest when it comes to cars because you can drive our cars stock and still have fun so not alot of people get into heavily modding their cars. But they all do appreciate all sorts of cars here.

I guess my wording was wrong, i really meant the subaru crowd was larger and more informative (which usually comes with size) nasioc was my favorite forum, so informative and there was ALWAYS something to any question you had, and if not someone would reply with an answer in minutes. I havent even figured out how to get to my watched topics quickly on here (without clicking drop menu, my liked content, forums, my watched topics) and feel like an early adopter when it comes to things.

Seriously though is there a 1 click way to get to my watched topics and pms like nasioc, ht, etc?
