Default In dash dual din

I posted this in the gallery, but figured i would post it here in case any of you locals were thinking of doing this yourself. I know when i was first looking to do it, I did not know where to start. I do everything myself, except paint and fiberglass. I have a guy for paint, and I had no idea who to trust to hack up my dash. Anyway, if you have any interest in this, I HIGHLY recommend Romel at Innovative Acoustic Designs of Cassat. I'll post the shop number up when I remember to get it, I don't want to post up his cell.

anyways, here is just a copy and paste from the thread i made in the gallery so excuse the repetitiveness...

I figured I would post this in the gallery first, since its pretty active. I wasn't sure if anyone was interested, but I know when i was looking to do this, it was hard to find any info. So I hope this helps anyone interested in it. I had tossed up this idea since I bought the car last november since i had this radio left over from my hatch and it wasnt even a month old! I even thought about enlarging the hole where the stock radio is and making a custom surround. I figured the dash would make more sense because it just would be awkward right in front of the shifter and the view would be blocked. Plus the passenger has a better view for access to co-piloting the navigation, or keeping the GF entertained with a movie should I take a long trip.

I would like to give a HUGE thanks to Romel at Innovative Acoustic Designs in Jacksonville FL. The pics are from a cell phone and are not very good quality, sorry. I will post better quality pics of the final result if anyone wants me too.

Started with a JDM S2000 navigation bezel...

I've never seen anyone had to add anything on the sides.

it doesnt sit perfectly with the dash contour lines if you dont. since the dash angles are reversed. I wanted it as flush and OEM looking as possible. plus if you don't modify it , it angles toward the passenger

yes, you have to cut the tube for the passenger side vent, I am currently working on fabbing up a custom setup.

it made it easier to change the angle more towards the USDM driver's side and I wanted it perfectly flush so it helped make it fit the contours perfectly and look like it came that way.
