I will put my two cents in here. Many of you know me and can vouch for my character. I have been an avid supporter of s2ki and especially the jax community. I have performed the duties as a CO and I have organized many meets as only a member. The title of CO is just that. A title. The community did not die because of Ryan. It died because you, the community, let it. You do not need a CO to have a vibrant community. We went years without a designated CO and we made it work.

However, if Ryan is too busy to an effective leader he should step down and let someone else take the reigns. Ryan has done an outstanding job as CO. I applaud you, Ryan.

I do think that Ryan does not have the time required to devote the attention required as a CO. Some fresh blood might help revive the jax group but ultimately it is up to the members to support THEIR elected CO.
Agreed in every way!

I mostly agree. Everything you said is very true. But sometimes unfortinitly it just don't always work like that. Would our country be okay without a president because we all know how things should go? No. Not all of us will depend on each other to keep things going smooth. Would a sports team keep it together without a coach? I'm just saying that most time it takes someone to push a little to keep a community active. We know how it "should" work, but we need glue to make it stick.

Most people can't even decide where to eat just with a friend. So I understand it's difficult to decide for 20 people. Lol

to Jphish. As one of the early members of the JAX area S2ki group the dynamics of people have changed. The younger and new people are wanting to do other things. Robert has been a really go CO. So if Robert wants to step down or someone else wants to pick up the reins that is fine. I will do my best to support the group.

Vyk,
Robert has not been CO in a while. This is about his replacement.

James,
You are very right. The issue here is that most people assume only the CO can make a meet. So people only attend a meet if it is set up by a CO. I remember a meet I once tried to get together and it got shot down because some people it was not set up by Robert (CO at the time) so once Robert chose a different site the meet became official and thus people showed up. The problem her is everyone is waiting on Ryan to set up the meet instead of saying I'm going to eat here for dinner and would love for the rest of the S2KI crew to show. For example, Jim set a free beer meet and it seems like people showed up.

It is hard to balance work, family, friends, love, and s2ki. They weekly meets were almost a strain to have fresh ideas all the time. Late night Saturday ride outs have seemed to gather a bit of a crowd. Though for me there is no such thing as a weekend away from work. I watched some our best faithful members fall off the radar. I agree new life has to be breathed into the community.

You misunderstand what I am saying. You absolutely need leadership. You need someone to step up and right the ship. Any of you can do this. I set up a meet a few weeks ago. I am not the CO but many of you showed up. Some that haven't been to a meet in some time even showed up. If you plan it well and have an easy to understand agenda people will show up. You just need one guy to say we are eating here or doing this at such and such time. If people are interested they will show up. However, we aren't just handed leadership. Leadership is earned. You are a great guy, Derek, and you are passionate and devoted to s2ki and this community. Stop talking and start doing. You DO NOT need a title to organize a community.
