What's going to happen when air traffic goes to the fully automated system that is being developed? What's the job outlook like? I have been thinking about this career for some time but have been thinking long term. Not only that but I heard that the pay for ATC was nearly cut in half recently. Is that true?

 

Eh, if you worked at a busy radar facility, and saw everything that goes on, you would understand that there is no way it will be automated anytime soon. But the pay was decreased a lot by the Bush administration. But that should be changing pretty soon. But you can still make six figures pretty easily.
