To the Jax Foodies
Hey all, just wanted to drop a line on a few local eateries I've had the time to try out.
Hong Kong Bistro is a new place on San Jose.
This is real chinese food, not american chinese. I'm talking frog legs w/chives, duck tongue, the works. They serve the usual roasted duck and some american chinese dishes but everything is served family style plus they also do dim sum from 11-3 (I've only been on Sat & Sun). Their shumai is one of the best I've had and the roast pig is awesome.

Silver Star on Blanding is another chinese place that just recently started doing dim sum but they do it all day every day as far as I know. Note, I only tried their dim sum and it was pretty good, I can't speak for their menu but it looked like your average american chinese food. If you've never had dim sum go here first, their wait staff speaks fluent english and is very helpful.

Louisiana Deli on the corner of Atlantic and San Pablo is a pretty kickass lunch spot if you're in the area. The fare is centered mostly on Po Boys and sandwiches (yes they have muffaletas) and is pretty good considering the major lack of cajun in Jax.

Nobody I know aside from my wife likes to eat this stuff (and even then she cringes at times) so I figured I'd throw it out there. Plus, real chinese food in Jax has been absolutely nonexistant no matter how hard Jackie Lee's or P.F. Chang's tries.

hehe real chinese food is one of those things where you should really latch yourself onto a chinese family or someone who's used to the food.
If you or anyone ever feels like being brave I'd be more than happy to come along and help out.
