Default radiator leak

noticed i was having a leak in the radiator.. the sponge between the radiator and frame builds up alot of coolant and when i drove it the front of the engine bay was covered in coolant. i cant say what the exact problem is, but should i just buy another radiator and save the hassle of goin to a place that fixes radiators.. to me id rather just get the whole thing brand new. and if u guys recommend any brands that would help, or i might just stick to oem.

thanks

This is very common in our cars. They normally crack right around the neck. Imsa77 just had this issue also. I can't really recommend I good replacement though. I do know when mine goes I'll buy an aftermarket one. (excuse to buy cool stuff) lol

The plastic endtanks on the oems are garbage they crack with no warning sometimes. Vividracing sells a koyo oem replacement (single core) or get a double core aftermarket. You can have my mishimoto for 120 but you will need a radiator cap

would it be safe if i drove the car while i kept adding coolant? im gonna guess the only down part is that id be getting coolant all over my engine bay til the new one comes in.

single core or double?

i just bought a koyo to swap out with- I don't trust the mishi under hard driving conditions.

if you are going to get aftermarket you might as well run with a dual core- I just bought my koyo for 345 shipped from vividracing- and it only took three days to get to me.

It is not recommended to drive with a crack- it can introduce air bubbles that can ultimately stop your coolant from flowing properly causing severe damage. but if you are going to, do not drive for long periods of time and put distilled water in instead of coolant- it is cheaper, coolant damages paint and it is bad mojo to dump hazardous material on the ground everywhere you go- plus water dissipates heat quicker.

i dont see why it would it it as long as you keep your eyes on the temp gauge and make sure your toped off at all times. Now i wouldn't be driving long distances tho. If your all motor, a single should work. Alot of boosted cars run dual core.

anyone have a hookup for an oem one from honda? i will probably call them later.

as for the koyo - is the radiator the only thing i will need? no new fans or parts, etc. im not in no need to race or such.. just a daily, with a bit of fast rarely lol so not sure if the dual would be necessary?

i guess i will make today my last day to drive it.. i put coolant in it today to keep me good for the day. i might be making a full circle drive around 295 today as i work at commonwealth.. have to goto the avenues.. then home on 103rd... long distance?
