Rolex24 in Daytona
Just in case you guys didn't know ... a few of us have been doing this for a few years now ... here's a link to the thread in the Florida forum.

And for a history lesson .. SR71BB (Marty) and his brother Paha Koira (Jason) are FULL of good racing history and fun facts of the drivers and teams. I think Marty once raced with or worked with Scott Pruett back-in-the-day.
Also ... this is NOT a NASCAR style event ... quite the opposite. There is NOTHING like walking around, freely along the infield fence, and watching the cars accelerate hard out of turns, negotiating slower cars and the 'pinch', then hard on the brakes, and back on the throttle again
You can really take your time and relish every moment in this environment and appreciate the drivers who are able to do this for 4-6 hours at a time!
And watching them at night with the rotors 'all aglow' and the spitting of flames from the exhausts is

Yes ... i do love it ... apparently
Come on down ... it's not that far away

I can't wait to go this weekend!!!! I'll be down Saturday morning. I'm not a super huge fan of the Rolex series but the Rolex 24 in my eyes is the kick off of endurance sports car racing.
I saw there is rain expected........this will be my 15th year in a row and its pretty much rained at least once during race weekend. LOL

truly amazing. And the atmosphere of the Rolex24 is unlike ANY other event imo. 12hrs of Sebring is a little close ... but, I still like being in Daytona better. Some REAL enthusiasts show up in their rides and it turns out to be a sportscar show! Going in the grandstands after 2am is fun too ... no one else up there (except for a handfull of crazies like me
) and the view is awesome. I love it.Should be a good time ... as always
Yeah Rolex 24 and Sebring is very tough to say which is better. I personally like Sebring........I just love the race and party atmosphere plus I can root for the Acura LMPs in the ALMS series.
Daytona's infield doesn't typically have alot of grip for some reason and mix that in with rain makes very scary situations for drivers...........I have nothing but respect for them running balls out in the rain, cold weather and having to deal with 2 classes of cars. WOW!!!
I'm just like you.......I love the grandstands in the early AM. At 2am you can definitely hear the diference in how the cars sound after running hard for 11 hours. The echo of the cars against the grandstands never gets old to me. I really love the RX8s with their 20b rotory engines........you definitely can tell when one is coming and not to mention the fire they breath out on downshifts. I bet you probably hate this too................DON'T YOU HATE THE DAYTONA POLICE ON THEIR MOPEDS ON THE FRONT STRAIGHT GRANDSTANDS THAT HAGGLE PEOPLE THAT STAND AGAINST THE FENCE..........WE CALL THEM FENCE NATZIS. LOL
