Default Tires for my trip Help?!?!?

So I am about to drive to San Diego to have my car shipped to Hawaii......

My fronts are on their last legs, and my rears are legally bald.

Trying to figure out what the hell to do, and I know my s2ki friends would love to help me out.......right???

I figure I got three options........

1)Get super lucky, and someone nearby will have some used 17 inch tires with more tread than mine that would sell to me for a good price........

2) Buy a new set of cheap tires for the trip and sell once I am ready to auto-x again in Hawaii (suggestions for decent price decent performance tires?)

3) Buy a nice set of racing tires so I am not buying two sets of tires before the end of the year......... (Cheaper than re-01r's preferred)

I was thinking about just doing my 3rd option unless some used tires pop up suddenly because it seems that by the time I buy a set of tires, drive maybe 5k on them, buy a nicer set of tires, I would have wasted a lot of money compared to the tread I would lose driving 3k miles then racing the rest of the tread off in hawaii......

Any ideas? tires? Mental counseling anyone can offer me?

Dang James, you got me all excited!!! That was almost perfect, except I realized I can't fit a 225 rear onto a 9 in wheel.......

thank for the number!! I will check it out, anytime in particular I should call? Does he sell decent quality tires?

Jeremy had some RE050s from the dealership that someone took off...I think he said they had good tread.

I got a pair of 215/40/17 reo40's from my NSX wheels that have good tread. I'll use my depth gauge tomorrow to get ya better idea of tread life left. I'm not at home tonight otherwise I would now. it's a 40 series tire but should be fine if your just looking to get by for a little while.
