No, not in my experience. I just tried for a week to get my 04 ASM to fit on my 07. Until Aaron guided me to have the carbon portion fit underneath the bottom metal clips, it would NOT fit. The bottom will not slide in far enough unless you slide the carbon piece underneath. Trust me. I tried MANY times.

Sorry, let me be clearer. The "carbon diffuser" portion needs to slide underneath the metal supports on the car. If you sit it on top, the bumper will not slide in far enough and wiill not sit on the car properly - all in my experience. So, based on my experience, don't paint the metal clips; instead, flex the carbon portion downward so if fits snug underneath the metal clips and the bumper will slide right into place.
