Default ASM Rear Wing -09 Development

This is another example of an article intended for the ASM Lounge thread that disappeared.

With the build of our own time attack car, we have been in talks with ASM to develop a larger rear wing for competition use. After preliminarily discussions and proposals, they have decided to produce a larger wing for ASM Car No.1 and for the Go Tuning / ASM demo car that's currently being built. Mockups have already been produced to determine position and wing placement and now they have just released some CAD renderings for consideration before production. This wing will be designed specifically to complement the aerodynamic balance of ASM Car No.1 for use on Fuji Motor Speedway. The wing will utilize center mounts to reduce drag and therefore require a reinforced trunk that is being designed in conjunction with the wing and will be required for use.

There is no intentions of producing this wing as a standard production model so certain cost efficient measures will not be taken to make it more affordale. Since it is intended for use only on ASM's car and our car, only a few will be produced and be available to the public in very limited quantities. As a result, ASM will still continue to sell the Rear Wing -08 because this larger wing will not pass Japanese road vehicle inspections. Estimated cost has been published if there is public interest but keep in mind it was never intended to be a production sale so it priced according to cost of development and manufacturing for limited use.

All these wings may seem confusing but here's a brief breakdown in order of release:
ASM GT Rear Wing - 1450mm wide - Used on the ASM Car No.1 for 2004 Time Attack - Discontinued but we still have them in stock.
ASM GT-05 Rear Wing - 1510mm wide - Used on the Tsukuba Special GT-05 Widebody in 2005 Time Attack - Molds still available so can still be special ordered.
ASM Rear Wing -08 - 1450mm Wide - Current production wing for street and light circuit use, meet Japanese road restrictions.
ASM Rear Wing GT-09 - 1500+mm wide - Includes reinforced trunk for center mount, currently in development.

As with all ASM Dry Carbon parts, availability is based on age and use of molds, if the molds have been used too many times or have passed their shelf life, the item will be discontinued unless there is more demand to produce a new mold.

Looks nice so far, but the design could use some endplates...

Yes, it will definitely have endplates but those are used to fine tune the wing at the end. The most important element is the mainplane.

Woah sounds like this is going to be a "baller" wing. Cost of development someone is going to shed some serious dough if they want their hands on this wing.

You should make a blog section on GoTuning.com to continue the ASM lounge
