Best Spring/Shock combo...
Hey everyone, I am looking to upgrade the already stellar suspension of my ap2. First off, you all should know that i unfortunatly do NOT plan of tracking the car or competing in auto-x, thats what the RT2000's are for provided by Skip Barber are for when the Southern Series starts up again.
I am looking for something that will lower the car about 1-1.25in and a stiffer than stock ride. I know coilovers are "the way to go" but i cannot justify spending 2-3k+ on a street set-up.
For the shocks im pretty set on the Koni Yellow adjustable shocks because of their reputation... Feel free to offer up other options.
Springs, I'm up in the air on. Eibach.. Tein...H&R..Comptech..
If possible, along with your suggestion, post where to get them and a pic if one is handy.
Thanks a lot.
Brad

swift are pretty much the best springs made. and they ride surprsingly smooth, even at very high spring rates.
so im unsure about swift.

someone told me that the swift springs on the spoon fit broke, actually they broke 2 springs.

I have the swifts on my car (as part of my top secret coilovers), I love them. I suggest the swift sport mach lowering springs and also price wise we have killer prices on them through Bulletproof's website.
The kg/mm is very good too, but they went out of business and changed ownership. I dont know much about their distribution lately, but because of unreliability we switched over to recommending the Swift as the best option.

how much will the swift springs lower the car?
Is the Koni/Swift set-up a better option as opposed to a "lower"* priced coilover (ie.Tein Flex)
* - lower in comparison to other coilovers
Thanks

I have had my swifts on for around 10-12K miles (I really dont remember exactly when I had them installed) and have been really happy with them. I have been using them with the stock shocks and in the last month or so, I am starting to feel the shocks deteriorate. I ordered Konis today and will install them next week. So, I think you can ride on the stock shocks for a while before they go, but it saves a lot of money to have them both installed at once. But, definitely get the swifts. Great springs.
I'm no expert, but wouldn't a better question be, "what spring RATES work best with the Konis for the street?" Then find a good company that makes those rates. BTW, you can order custom rates from swift. Talk to evasive motorsports. Also check the Competition forums to see stock spring rates for ride comfort comparison to your new springs. Obviously, if you're going lower, you want a little stiffer, so you don't bottom out the already low car.
