You can go with AEM EMS, HKS F-CON V-PRO, MOTEC, You can also play with piggy tails like APEXi VAFC II or Greddy E-Manage / E-Manage Ultimate.

Most of racing S2Ks run with HKS and MOTEC, with both of them the programming capabilities are endless...

if you don't want standalone, just buy a VAFC-II... how much power you get will depend on the tune, so there are no finite numbers.

VFAC is going to do everything an pretuned ecu will do. plus after mods you can retune and get the most out of them. they only think VFAC cant do that the pre-tuned do is advance-retard timing.

I have a question that goes along with this one: I have heard that JDM ECUs (Spoon, J's Racing, etc.) are tuned for JDM cars, and as such they don't really offer any gains on our crappy gas -- is this true?

Sorry, I don't mean to "piggyback" your thread. Aaahahahaha. Amusing.

gas has nothing to do with it. only issue i can think of with jdm ecu's are differences in compression ratios between usdm and jdm motors where they are different.

remember the gas has nothing to do with power directly.

that would be very impressive and if this were true i'd recommend having this guy market this chip, he'd make quite a bit of money. ecu's like mugen, spoon, or j's racing are built race specific for N1. N1 rules require that the motors meet certain specifications (stock pretty much) so in order to make the most power possible they have tuned these ecu's to make power off of stock motors with bumped compression via a thinner headgasket and bolt-ons. if you are going to mod your motor beyond basic bolt-ons from the same company, i would recommend a stand alone vs. preprogrammed ecu's. that way you can tune to your mods.
