Default Exhaust thread disscusion

Have one for headers, couldnt find one on exhausts after a search. So which ones make the best power for the price? even better would be charts from owners and list what other mods you have.

Im hoping to compile different results from different exhausts so we can have kind of a one stop reference for easier searches. Im trying to go off the header thread. ill be looking stuff up myself, but if others can or would like to contribute, please do

All 70mm exhausts perform about the same. A non-resonated may give you 1hp. An 80mm will give you another 1 hp NA and a few more in a high boost car.

I suggest a 70mm headerback as well. If you want to keep your hearing then I'd make sure a resonator is on there.

Yup all 70mm single exhausts are about the same in terms of power... imo the difference of each one is quieter ones like ASM would lack 1-3whp from say Non resonated J's.

A non-resonated might make 1-2 HP (although really I'm not sure about this but benefit of the doubt...), but the ASM is quieter mostly because it is made of heavier gauge steel, not because it is more restrictive. The ASM should produce the same power as a resonated Js 70, but it will weigh 10 pounds more.

^Thats true too

I think its 3mm thick since the 70mm inner diameter is 67mm.

Single exhausts for the S2000 work well for power and depending on what brand you purchase, they will almost always weigh less also. 60mm will be quieter than 70mm or 80mm, especially with a resonator or full use of the catylitic convertor.

My personal experience with an Amuse R1000 exhaust (70mm single, using no cat convertor and no resonator) was wayyyy too loud for me on the street. It was very hard to hear the stereo, especially driving on the highway with a ton of drone to put up with. But I could certainly tell a nice bump in power with the mods I have installed;-Amuse header, AEM cold-air intake, Hondata gasket, overbore throttlebody. Not to mention I was just asking for a "fix it" ticket eventually.

Amuse R1000 (awesome for the track, bad on the ears)

I am in favor of a free for all exhaust thread.

I have a general question for those who have done any custom exhaust work. I might be interested in a single exhaust, but the offerings out there are too loud for my tastes. I think I might want to put one together, I was thinking about one with a resonator included, but was curious about muffler options. I want to avoid loud, droning, farty pipe ricey stuff. A little louder than stock is fine but I don't want it to sound like a civic pep boys special.

What are my options?

The only one I know of is borla, but just want to find a high quality high flow muffler without the coffee can look and the megaphone sound. A lighter weight exhaust is the goal (with tolerable sound) and a few horsepower would be nice, but maximum HP with bloody eardrums is not necessary.

I am also interested in an aftermarket one if you know of one that fits the bill, but I am not aware of any.
