Front Fenders of all sizes and makes
It seems of late that there has been a lot of interest in all the aftermarket Fender industry for the S2000. A lot of people seem to be unclear of whats available. I put a little list together to help any new comers or people that are still unclear. Hopefully, a set from each manufacture will be bought by members so we can hear some feedback about quality, tire size options, inner fender arrangements, paint adhesion, etc.
I hope this little table helps everyone and if any information is incorrect I will edit my post asap. All pricing per Bullet Proof Automotives website. J's Racing -- 40mm wider per side (seems huge) $1082.90 for Fiberglass ASM -------- 25mm wider per side $1674.40 for FRP $4914.00 for dry carbon HOLY JEEBUS!! Varis ------- 20mm wider per side? $1852.50 for CF, $750.50 for FRP CWest------ 10-15mm wider per side $912.60 - $1300 for PCC Carbon Thanks Ryan B. |
Good info Ryan.
I may add that those prices are not always accurate only because CwestUSA will charge over $1200 for them retail plus shipping. This is just what I have seen in regards to the Cwest fenders. On the other hand I actually think in reality the Cwest is a 15mm flare or closer to that. Only because of all the clearance I have with the +35 offset and the 3 inch drop I have. Yes, I know camber plays a part but I really think 10mm is too conservative. ;) |
Consider to the list updated. Thanks for the Feedback Chris.
|
Chris......are your fenders painted Cwest?
I'm considering going this route if the fenders can be painted to look like OEM finish. I'm concerned about uneven surfaces or any type of imperfect surface... feedback? |

Anyway my sig has my painted Cwest fenders for you. They can be painted to look like OEM finish. Its very expensive though. The price alone is more than some of the other fenders on this thread cost. All the uneven surfaces or imperfections can be worked (for money). ;) |

Whats up? How did HID's go? I heard Spoonus took 2nd place.

Well YOUR fenders turned out really clean. Tim |
Highrpmek: Not really a correction, but a clarification for your list: the J's GT1 kit is 50mm wider per side in the front and 40mm per side in the rear.
BTW, anyone know if the rear quarter panel on the S2k comes off like it does on the NSX? Or is part of the chassis (like in most unibodies)? |
is the J's rear fender piece just a flare?? or actually a whole rear fender?? from looking at the C-WEST race car, it seems their fenders are actually rivetted on.
And does this mean you can actually run a 17x9 with a 40 offset or lower on all 4 corners?? the C-WEST car with their flared fenders run ADVAN RG's(F-17x9+45, R-17x9.5+35) with yoko AO48's 255/40-17. theres gonna be alot of space using the J's parts............ |

You guys should consider modifying your stock fenders... I'm too impatient to wait so I decided to modify my OEM fenders to get about 15mm more clearance. I cut the whole edge of the fender off and welded in a 1/2" wide piece of sheet metal. It's currently being prepped for paint. Here's a teaser pic, didn't have my camera on me so exuse the camera phone pics.
VeilsideAP1 mentioned he modified his stock fenders too but when I looked at some of his pics, it looked like he lost the vertical lip at the edge of the fender. I wanted to make it as OEM as possible. Whole process will have taken about a week and cost a lot less than a set of unpainted cwest fenders. But I did do a lot of the work myself... https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...1bd993846f.png https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...1bd993846f.png |

Bad thing was I took a hard turn going uphill and they were toast. Post pics when its done. I would love to see it. |

Is that at Autobahn Aaron?
|
Revjunky: Excellent work. However, i don't trust myself to do any fender welding! Can't wait for those pics when you're done. Any possibility you'd be offering this as a service for us S2ki members (of course for some $$) ;) ?

I've been there almost every day this week. Been watching Sam's car come along nicely, you can even see some of his parts in the background of the other pics... hehe. [QUOTE=StinkyTofu,Jul 28 2005, 06:44 PM] Revjunky: Excellent work. |

Ya... I've been going there for 8 years and my family's been taking our cars there since the early 80's. I bring them lots of work. Did you hear about it through Mike? I took him there when he first got his car.

I was forced to learn how to weld and paint with my old car. But it's easier to have someone else like Autobahn do all the work for you. |
Great idea, looks good so far. I also like the idea of keeping that vertical lip to keep things looking OEM. Pls keep us updated as this is definitely an option for us wide fender guys.

here is the varis
ill post more pic soon |

The rear fender is welded on. Thats why Amuse and ASM use rivited attachments. I've had an accident where I had to replace them before.

i believe it's just a rear over-fender that J's makes, not a whole rear fender...kinda like the over-fender that ASM makes.
|
Right, does anyone have pictures, I haven't even seen this on the J's Racing race cars. I didn't know it existed. thanks

Finally got my fenders on. They're give about 20mm more clearance than stock. I'm thinking about selling them because I might go back to OEM brakes so if anyone is interested in the fenders + trade for your OEM ones, PM me.

Wow, turned out real nice RevJunky. It looks good. OT Question, I want to get Stoptech brakes, you wouldn't happen to know what offset CE28N clears the Stoptech kit would you?

Damn, so I'd need a +35 or lower wheel to clear them. :banghead:
|
2x2 weave? Paint them. ;)

Hey guys, I really like the design of the J's Racing fenders, but I have a few questions regarding fitment (particularly with the extensions that blend the sides of the front bumper with the wider fenders).
1st - Do these extensions only fit with a J's Racing front bumper or can it be used with a stock bumper? 2nd - If these extensions fit on stock bumpers, will it fit the AP2 design seeing that it slightly differs from the AP1? 3rd - If these extensions fit AP2 front bumpers, will it still work with an OEM front lip or will that have to be sacrificed? Please help me, as my fenders are still F'd up. :( |
Fore Warning, I don't know for sure, they are mere assumptions.
1. yes, I think they will fit the stock front bumper, as the J's Type S front bumper is designed to match up to the OEM fenders 2. I don't think these extensions come down the bumper far enough to interfere with were the AP1 and AP2 front bumpers begin to differ so I think they will fit 3. Again, I don't think they come down the bumper as far as the OEM lip comes up the bumper. Hopefully in a week some of these answers can be found with AJ Racing testing the fitment of these fenders. |
Highrpmek, thanks for your input, your assumptions are the same as mine, I'm hoping that they will fit perfect. Hopefully AJR could chime in on this or keep us updated about fitment.
|
I saw the J's wide fenders in person yesterday, man I was amazed how wide they are...you will need spacers to space out most of the aftermarket wheels with offset ranged from 35 to 50. The quality is great though.
|
where to get the varis fenders??????

Where can I see pics of the J's REAR fenders?? I just searched their site, but all i saw was the front.
|
i dont think J's has rear fenders...only front...from the last time i saw...they rolled the rear fenders A LOT!! the only jdm company that has rear fenders are c-west and the asm rear over fenders

The J's Type-S fender (they used to call them the GT) are 40mm wider each side. The CF cover at on the side is an option.
Here's a few pics for the J's rear fender flare. http://www.aj-racing.com/ajpwr/AP1-Rear-Flare1.jpg http://www.aj-racing.com/ajpwr/AP1-Rear-Flare2.jpg I will be getting the 1st set soon and rear quarter panel (rear fender) has to be modified if you want to make them actually work to fit a lower offset wheel. It will be about +25mm wider over stock. |

I respect that. -Pete :hello: |
Cwest front fenders with a 225/45/17 tire with ASM Spec Prodrives and Endless calipers..
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...mg=270475&md=1 |
Wow, I hope these are better priced than the ASM's. I'm still leary of cutting away my stock quarter panel as it is not reversible and will kill re sale value.
Also Ben could you PM the size of SSR Type C's J's uses? |

I asked him to PM me that info Bryant, but no luck.
|
If you find out anything. Let me know please
|
Any more pics of the J's front fenders?
|
I say get group buy on some c west fenders.
|
Wow, RevJunky those fender look extremely nice! Makes them look so beefy and sort of muscular. You should keep em!
|
im ordering the varis fenders right when i get my RGII....the reason why is im going to run a 245/40/17 on the front on a 17x7.5 wheel...will i be ok on clearance?
|
Depends on offsets of wheels
|
17x7.5 +45
|

Thank you. |
+23 what though? I'm pretty sure J's runs a 17x8.5 +23 front and 17x9.5 +35 rear CE28N's on their race car (255/40 tires at all 4 corners). Obviously a 17x7.5 wheel can run a lower offset than +23 with those fenders if they already fit the +23 8.5 wide front wheels.
That's just my assumption. |
will 245/40/17 on 17x7.5 +45 fit under the varis fenders
|
yes
|
back from the dead. lets see some more
|
add downforce 30mm fender to the list then
|
downforce fenders are awesome. Just got a set. The are reinforced with carbon fiber at all mounting points and use metal brackets for sturdiness.
|
post some pics! i need more than the ones i have seen on .....hell i forget his name,...he is like the black version of Dietz
