Question have to buy new motor

long story short...motor is done, need to get a new motor. i can either get it done by honda...$5600 dollars for motor, $2000 labor (and of course new warr.) or was looking at J's Racing SPL F20C 2.0L Engine $6114 and spoke to a honda mechanic that will install it for $1000. (no warr of course)...im stuck in the middle of what to do...any ideas or other suggestions??????????

I would stay with a stock engine and warrantee if I were you. Unless you can support the Js engine with the other Js products to max out its potential I dont think its worth it. The 6114 dollar price for the engine will rise fast by adding the header which is well over a $1k, intake which is another $1k, exhaust?, ecu?..

Or you could it get an inlinepro 2.5L motor instead This would be a one-month wait and a 2-yr warranty.

I think if you purchase a JDM motor (J's, Spoon, ASM), you're looking at 3-months minimum if not longer. Forget about warranty

You should call up AJ-R and ask them for info on the J's engine if you're really serious about doing it, but keep in mind that this is in no way a "budget" solution to your blown engine problem. You will have to get some sort of stand-alone ECU (or, maybe prefferably, buy J's ECU), and my best guess would be about a 6-month wait for that engine....

Also if theres any trouble, you can reach inline pro directly since their in the US unlike japanese tuners.

Sorry for the OT, but is that the cost of a brand new motor from Honda? Just curious as I've thought about buying one and starting a custom built motor to either put in my S2000 or maybe someday an Elise or Exige.

This sounds like a nice plan, but I thought you had to provide Inline Pro with a motor to be built? Do they have brand new or used motors to start a build off of? How much $ would it take to go to I-Pro and say you want a stroker motor built from the ground up?
