highly modded Mini guy considering an S2000
Hi,
I am well known on the Mini board northamericanmotoring.com as SpiderX...... I have the first Mini (that I know of) with an Eaton M62 supercharger...... I have about every mod on my car so i am not new to mods......
I recently drove an S2K and was really impressed and now i have the "itch" what a great car..... My Mini is not a DD but it shares those duties with an Xterra (bikes, kayaks etc)....the S2K would be similar
In the Mini world there a few mods that make sense out of the box..... smaller pulley for the SC, sway bar, CAI, cat-back, wheels/tires and a brake upgrade.....
this list does some nice things for the Mini...... I have gone: head/cam, coilovers BBK, and the list goes on and on....... don't want to do that again....but I would like a few upgrades if they make sense...... I was impressed by the suspension on the S2K not so much the brakes and the low end TQ is a little lacking but hey, so is the Mini.....
I know from the Mini board that this has been asked many times but please have patience with me

You will find that there really isn't much you can do to dramatically improve performace other than FI.
Probably the best bang for the buck for an NA car are gears...most find the 4.56 (4.57r) or 4.77 good for the AP1. Not sure on the AP2, but given it's already aggressive tranny gearing (the diff ratio is the same as AP1), a 4.44 might make more sense (I'll let AP2 guys chime in on that).
Otherwise, you can spend a grand here and a grand there on I/H/E and get minor hp/tq increase and minor acceleration improvement.

that is my impression.... unlike the Mini the S2K seems like a factory sorted out "sports car" really not much to do...... I will not go FI...... thanks for the reply
There are tons of brake upgrades.
If you reaaaaally want more power you can go FI.
I plan on going MP62 via BRP supercharging in couple years.

There are also tons of suspenion mods if you want stiffer.
I don't ever plan on upgrading the suspension, i like it that much.
Here are some threads to pump you up (for a Rio)!

Our car is great out of the box, your most definitely right about that! Not many mods that will make a drastic difference if thats what your looking for.
