I forgot you are running the 70RR thats the header back right? Your car probably should be close to how mine was when I was running I/H/TP/E (as far as ECU settings) the tuner at the shop said there would be no damage from how lean I was running, but to get the full potential of the mods I should get some type of fuel management.

Your best bet will be with a good Tuner/Dyno combo, you can adjust the fuel settings with the VAFC with a gauge that reads Rich/Lean, but most are not very accurate

Reason being without a monitoring device you cant see what is going on. You could use someone elses VAFC settings as a sort of base map (Preferrably an AP2 with the exact same mods or very similiar ones) I would not recommend tracking or driving the car very hard until tuning is done though.

Another down side is with the OEM ECU you are not getting everything you can out of the mods you are spending all your hard earned money on (congrats on the promotion by the way ) you might actually be losing HP or not gaining nothing at all.

You will take advantage of running lighter weight parts which is a benifit no matter what and that will help you on the track, but since you have a daily driver and are planning on doing lots of tracking I would strongly recommend tuning before putting too many more bolt ons on the car.

Sorry for the book

Sorry to de-rail the conversation, but are you referring to the T1R vs. J's Header, or the T1R vs. J's 70mm Titanium exhaust, OR Both?

I'm still looking for the best header/70mm Ti. exhaust combo for increased power throughout the VTEC range (for track use). Do you have a dyno comparison?

Thanks

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to take this OT.
I think I should have said that the T1R probably makes more power. It is mandrel bent and should have better flow characteristics. The J's is welded at the bends right?

there are no welds at the bends of the J's 70- it's a continuous single titanium piece header back.

Is it mandrel bent? I've heard that it's hard to bend titatium...

I also made that original statement before T1R made their titanium exhausts.

I have a wideband and the only time it goes leaner is when you hit vtec. The A/F ratios go around 13.6:1 which is nothing really to worry about IMO, especially when its only for a split second and is still considered a safe A/F. Rest of the time it runs rich as crap like normal.

I just got my car tuned by Giles of Hollyroller dyno. He said that before tunning my car was running way too lean. The only mods i had were comptech intake, j's header and 70rr exhaust. I'm just giving a heads up to anyone out there running this set up without tunning. Giles suggested i got a compression test done because i was having some detonation at 8500 rpm.
Ouch, I made 218 wheel without exhaust. UR pulleys, Flywheel, Vafc, Tune = 218wheel. No updates yet, emanage tune + j's header + T1R 70 single. Should be interesting.
