Good test. On the front splitter, wouldnt it matter how the yarn was hanging when the car started moving. i.e. if it was hanging down before you started going it will naturally wrap under the splitter whent he wind hits it?

I highly doubt it. The tufts near the window hangs down when I open the door. I don't even need to move them when I shut my door. The turbulence from the movement of my window kicks it up out of the way just when the door shuts and when the door's closed, the tufts hang outside of the window (as intended)
It's just a piece of string; which means it doesn't take that much aero force for it to overcome the gravitational force acting upon it to make it unwrap itself.

I think your exact needs in terms of downforce depend on what kind of racing you are doing, but I would go GT wing as they have worked very well for many members here, as well as many professional race teams. I have heard that all Mugen parts are wind tunnel tested, and their hardtop and wing are tested together (they also make extensions that turn their wind into a GT wing) so I would have to think that they're a good bet. Whatever company you go with though, GT wing > low-mount wing.
Oh and speaking of JDM racing, both the C-West and the ASM cars run the Mugen hardtop and GT wings, they both appear to be slightly shorter than the height of the hardtop. Hope it helps?

on the wing issue a low deck wing works better. Heres why think of the back of the hard top like a slide the air picks up speed as it flows down the back of the hard top. A high wing wont get air moving as fast as a low deck wing. To be honest if your going with a wing buy one from a company that does REAL aero tuning. Cwest, J's, Voltex they did the work and you dont have to worry if what you bought really works. my two cents

From my experience, and alot of input from the race crowd, and current NASA TT s2000 leader, most of the GT wings on the S2k are most effective at about 10in high or more. This would be ideal for Racers. We can have J's make their GT wing set for such purposes as well. We have been playing with different hights on our Time Attack AP2 (using the mugen roof as well.)
