Default J's intake

In searching for intakes, I'm thinking the J's Racing is looking like the one to get. However, no one that I have found posted any info about what filter to use with this intake. Does it come with one, and can it be replaced with normal cone filters (i.e. OEM, K&N, etc)? The reason I ask is I don't want an intake that when it comes time to replace the filter requires me to search all over and spend tons of money just to get a special one from J's. Thanks.

It comes with a filter and it is not hard to find, plus it is washable.

So do you have to use a J's filter once it gets worn out, or is it the same size as the OEM one?

most of the filters are washable, it's just a matter if you want to put some time cleaning it or not.

J's has several "intake systems" for the S.

1) CF intake duct - stock hood fitment (similar to the Spoon duct)
2) CF intake duct type2 - A large duct than the previous. Need to mod hood or use J's V hood.

-The above 2 version uses the stock airbox.

3) Tsuchinoko intake - The big bulb that everyone wants. V-hood needed for this one.

hope this helps.

For the Tsuchinoko Intake I had to cut my hood as well.

man cutting the hood just doesn't seem worth it to me. I mean if I want, I can get a big bulb like thing welded into my AEM intake for probably around 50 bucks and have the same effect...plus I still the the hydrolock risk that everybody wants.

is he being sarcastic?

but seriously...to cut the hood and pay out your ass just doesn't seem worth the marginal if any benefits of the JDM intake

Since the J's intake duct (or Spoon) that doesn't require hood modification gets thinner at the radiator support, do you guys think this might cause a flow restriction hurting power at higher RPMs?
