Default J's Intake DOES fit MY2006...

hey guys. so i installked the J's Racing Intake onto my MY2006 S2000 with no problems at all... some things to know for anyone attempting to do this...

*the kit comes with a rubber bushing with a screw on each side... this is not for you. ignore it. it is meant to go where YOUR IAT sensor plugs in.

* cutting the hood is no big deal... don't worry. however, having someone with a steady hand helps.... mine came out absolutely flawless.

* i didn't use the fiberglass bracket... for whatever reason the bolts J's provides don't fit in the stock brackets, however, the intake is 100% secure just being bolted to the core support, so thats all i did.

* the black hose J's provides serves no purpose to you, it is the vacuum line, however, there is no need to reroute any vacuum lining on the MY2006

* the hoses that connect from the valve cover>intake and the hoses that connect from the Intake Manifold> Throttle Body are one unit... remove the ENTIRE thing and use the Clear Rubber/Vinyl hose J's provides you for the valve cover to the intake connection, for the hose connecting the Throttle Body to the Intake manifold you will have to go to your honda dealership to get... mine just gave me like 18 inches of it for free... you will need about 6-8 inches of it. it has an 8MM ID Bore.

* the intake hit the hood on the right side of the chamber for whatever reason, i removed the sound deadening from the hood.... it looks better and sounds better without it so whatever.

other than that i can't think of anything else other than YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE OFF THE BUMPER, NOR DO YOU NEED TO CUT INTO THE STOCK RADIATOR SHROUD!!!!!!! no matter what anyone tells you... you do not. and you CAN reuse the front grill... i chose not to, i think it looks better with out it. also, you do need to remove the front cross beam... and the passenger side cross beam bracket...

ALL of these tips will save you the two days i spent with my car torn apart in my garage trying to finagle shit it all wacky... but it works.

from a performance standpoint, throttle response is improved. VTEC comes on A LOT quicker, not sooner, QUICKER. there really isn't any sound increase which i am glad, i don't drive some shitbox, i don't want it to sound like one... the sound is a little more "roary" in VTEC ONLY but it doesn't have that droany suction sound like the ARC intake... so this combined with my J's Header and Test Pipe improve the car greatly....hope this helps. if anyone has any more questions, please let me know. ALSO, thanks to Bulletproof Automotive for the Intake and the GREAT service as always... and thanks to the guys at AJ-R for help with the installation tips.

Yeah, you have membership. Use your S2Ki gallery to post larger pics. Would you be able to do a clean cut if you have a CF hood?

are you asking me if i could personally do it? if so.. i don't see why not. i think carbon would be harder to cut than the thick aluminum... carbon is brittle.. it's easier to cut through. it's stronger. but brittle, which is what would make it easier to cut. you just have to make sure you use the correct cutting wheel. and i posted these long before i was a member.

your only other option then is to get a J's/Mugen hood.... otherwise, you gotta cut. it's really not a big deal. it looks factory if you do it right, like i did....
