Default For J's Intake owners

Well, the fall season is coming and there are a lot of leaves and debris on the road. I was wondering how often do you guys check/clean out your intakes? Do these intake snorkles tend to "suck up" a lot of debris? I haven't checked mine yet and I would like to know other people's experience. Thanks!

Haven't checked mine yet, mind you I only got it this past summer. I don't imagine too much debris would make it's way up the snorkel?

I've checked/cleaned mine once in the 3 years i've owned it (should probably check it this winter) But I did find like sand and a twig in there...very odd. If your traveling at speeds...its possible for leaves to get forced up into the chamber.

I had the stock box with the Spoon snorkle, I checked mine every other week and there was always some sand and a leaf or two in there, but my car is lower than most, don't know if that has anything to do with it ...

It will definitely get more dirty, so be sure to check on your filter more often. I use to clean my K&N filter every oil change when I had my Spoon snorkel because it got more dirty faster.

How much does the snorkel help performance wise? Does it sound better?

is there any risk of hydro-lock with the snorkel while driving in the rain?

I would think water can be easily sucked up too..

I don't think so. I had it for quite awhile and I just checked recently and the filter is surprisingly clean.

No change or hydrolock since the air filter itself is located inside the engine bay area, and is in its own chamber. Water cannot make it up the snorkle/around the bend area and then into the intake filter...there just enough force to do that.
