J's Racing Products are of extremely high quality. I have never been dissapointed by anything that I have owned of theirs.

Currently I think the only J's part I have on our demo car right now is the Type V hood (LOVE it) but that could change for next season. In the past I have hat their type S carbon hood and front half lip.

Most of the J's parts however are built for the track. If you just like that look and don't track your car, more power to you, just make sure you know that a lot of the price you're paying for is for the R&D that they put into their race program that allows them to sell these parts to begin with (along with shipping from Japan and customs duties)

J's is very much worth it in my opinion.

Oh and PS> The process of outsourcing the manufacture of parts isn't anything new (in reference to the comment about the gears). Some of the price markup is J's trying to make a profit (weren't they the first ones to even do the swaps? so that was R&D right there, so who can fault them?), some of it is that their kits also include reinforced bolts (maybe not a HUGE cost, but still extra cost and R&D), and some of the markup is in shipping from japan I don't fault them for the gears at all (hell they outsource the manufacture of their hoods to First Moulding and I don't fault them for that either).
Very well said.

I also agree with AP12NV on the aspect of RnD in regards to the rear gears.

As far as "worth it," it all depends. Their suspensions are supposedly some of the best out there, and they do make several products noone else does to enhance the trackworthiness of the s2000. That aside, cost vs. performance gain is another point. Their parts are not the most expensive, but they do not produce astounding gains either (specifically bolt on engine parts)... I think it would depend on what you were looking at buying too... If you want the most from your exhaust, Amuse R1000 is pretty much the top HP gainer in regards to bolt ons... If you want a throaty exhaust note, there are other options that will give you comparable performance much cheaper while still maintaining quality...

What is usually best is to sit down and determine what your goals are for your car.

Think about:

How much power do you want to make?
How much weight do you want to shave off the car?
What kind of look do you want the car to have?
How tunable do you want your suspension?
and of course the kicker:
How much money do you want to spend

Once you answer these kinds of questions, you can look through all of the offerings from all the major tuners (J's Racing, Amuse, ASM, Toda, etc... if you're looking at that class of product) and choose who makes the products that fulfill your goals the best for the best price.

Long story short though, is J's quality? I sure think it is If you decide it fits your needs then go for it

Power ~ 500whp
Weight ~ 2500
Look - aggressive, but not too wild
Suspension - very tunable
Cost ~ don't too much car - I am willing to drop at least $20K into the car over the next 2-3 years.

20k for the specs your looking to have may be a conservative number at best, being that you are looking to substantially change the balance. IMHO, I would not buy an over the counter exhaust system right now unless you don't mind taking a loss on selling it later. There is nothing J's is going to give you that will further you on your goal of 500whp... Boost is the only way to get there, namely a turbo setup to achieve such high numbers... With that in mind, an exhaust can with 3-4" (depending on DP specs) piping straight off the DP would be your best bet, but you really can't do that until you start to get into building up a turbo setup. I also wouldn't spend money on hoods, etc. right now because the amount of weight you are looking to shed will most likely require dry carbon, e.g. C-West, Amuse, ASM, etc. Though if their new wing is anything to base future product off of, J's may be jumping into that group shortly. Unless you have about 10 grand to toss in now, I'd start saving for the F.I. components, and maybe decide on a suspension setup... Just my .02

Thanks for your inputs!

I think the suspension is the least of my concerns. Doesn't the stock suspension already make the S2K a track whore? I want to concentrate on power mods first, brake upgrade and then suspension. I think my first two power mods would be an AEM EMS and 4.57 FD. I heard that the 4.57 FD makes a huge difference in accelaration.

yes, but if you are planning on supporting 500 to the wheels, I wouldn't bother with the gears, I'd start looking at the 240 and skyline rear end conversions so you don't have to worry about your diff at all

I am not familiar with those conversions. Are people with S2Ks doing them? I know that there are some manufacturers that make upgrades diffs for the S2K; why not go that route?

It shouldn't be all that hard to make 500 whp. Full-Race has very nice turbo kits for the car. Take their Stage 3 kit, build the internals and say hello to at least 500 whp.

With the Civic I have now (that my wife is about to get), I have a K20A2 in it. My plan was to get the Full-Race Stage 3 turbo kit. The kit is good for 620whp with built internals. If I could make that kind of power on a K20A2, shouldn't be too difficult on an F22. Right?
