As far as I know, there's water leakage problem with this top. About safety, I don't think they have made it pass the Japanese traffic law.

Soon as they make a street version, with normal hook ups, and such I will be all over this like white on rice. In the mean time.....just waiting. Some company is going to make good $$$$ if they pull off a good looking replica like sibon does with everything else.

I assume you mean Seibon? Try poor fitting, cheap carbon work that will turn yellow and fall apart over time...nastyness.

With the right amount of cash you can have this hardtop. Back in May of this year 2 of us had the option to buy this hardtop in its FRP version. We opted to pass because of the latch issues we saw. Regardless, we could have had it. Now that I look back on this I am glad I went Mugen instead. There is no way I would pay $6500 for a hardtop. Even with my sponsorship price is was on the border..

The rollbar was required and Opak was the shop that was going to bring them in for us for a couple of magazine shoots but we never went through with it. There is a 04 Rio Yellow USDM s2k that will have the hardtop in an upcoming Sport Compact Car article.. Stay tuned..

It was said/thought that it was going to be brought in as a CFRP hardtop but then my friend flew over to Japan on vacation and visited the Spoon shop and spoke with the owner and all of the hardtops there were FRP not CFRP so that leads us to believe that its an FRP hardtop for $6500 since all 4 were FRP. However that may seem like a lot for an FRP hardtop but of course if your lucky to pick up a sponsorship price from them its a little less and worth it but I had already picked up the Mugen ht.

From the pictures and my friends experience it looked like a 6 or higher rollcage is required because the top latched or was held on by the front bar that comes only on a 6 point or higher cage.

BTW the hardtop is on its way over already for the Opak display car which has every Spoon part available on it and it will be on display in Los Angeles and San Bruno from time to time. So just wait and you will see everything..Looks ok, not a fan of all Spoon parts because there are better performing parts for each application on the market today but if your starting out on your S2k, Spoon is always a good option.. Then go from there..
