Default Mugen hardtop influence?

So I was looking around on Japanese Nostalgic Car and happened upon a great article they had about the Toyota 2000GT. Looking through the pictures I found a couple that surprised me. The giant crease running down the center of the mugen top has always sorta intrigued me, especially after continually seeing it on cuonice's car in person, and here's another car with a very similar setup. Maybe this has been discussed before, but I wasn't around here when the hardtop was released to know if someone noticed this before. Anyways, I just thought it very interesting that Mugen would have taken a styling cue from such an amazingly historic car, and a toyota at that. Thoughts, comments?

the reason that there are humps on both tops is simple. It makes room for a helmet. same thing on the RX7, just a less defined drop between the humps

It must be for some type of aerodynamic effect.

The older Vipers share this same feature too I believe. Though I'm not sure if the new Vipers do or not and I think the new Vettes do too.

It is to allow for taller people and thier helmets. They call it the Double Bubble roof.
