Default Mugen Hardtop Install

Well it doesn't help that the directions are hand drawn and in Japanese.

Is their a PDF for the directions in English anywhere? I figured mostly everything else out for the install so that i know what im doing when i get it back from paint.

Anyway, what do i have to do to my trunk so that it will open properly with the Mugen hardtop installed? I can't figure that part out.

You can't modify the OEM trunk to accomodate it, but you can adjust how it is mounted by loosening the 4 bolts its mounted with and moving it out. I don't suggest doing that though because then your trunk won't be aligned perfectly with the rest of the car. What i did was take some coolant hoses, cut them into squares, and super glued them to the stock rubber stoppers. Its ghetto but it works and you can't see it. If you're lucky, you won't have to adjust anything. Every car is a little bit different.

get rubber stoppers at Home Depot or Lowe's. double up on your OEM rubber stoppers located inside your trunk (arm's of the trunk). this will prevent your trunk from hitting or touching your hardtop.

do not adjust your trunk!!!! it has nothing to do with your trunk.

Do you happen to have a pic of what you did exactly Sam? I will be trying to install my Mugen top tomorrow. I want to make sure that it fits before I get it painted.

With my first Mugen hardtop, I had to re-adjust the trunk by having it adjusted to sit further back.

There was about a 1-2mm adjustment, it didn't make the gap between the trunk lid and the rear valence any larger to the eye, however, when opening the trunk it allowed the trunk to swing open slightly higher and away from the trailing pane on the Mugen hardtop.

the rubber stopper on the arm was added. you can also see the OEM stopper up top. you can add a bigger rubber stopper on the arm for more piece of mind but the rubber stopper in the pic clear with 2 hairs.
