i'll try to answer all questions...

vtec engagement is 5000. once everything got tuned in that where it made the most linear power.

up top i think it may be being held back by the AEM V1 intake. the resonant frequencies seem to be at the wrong points. I'm going to experiment with something custom to try to get things where i want them. i'm not happy with the 4-5k range and the 8k+ range. i think there is more to be had with a better intake design.

the buddy club spec 3 and Berk testpipe sound awesome but are very loud. but it sounds incredible from about 5k up.

VAFC may get you close on numbers but you wont have timing control. and the EMS really helps with drivability issues. map sensor "issues" went away with proper tuning.

thanks for all the good words.

Scott
i would recommned going back to stock on the intake. check my sig, and i'll post up a dyno, the stock intake really is the best one.

thanks for the advice. i was going to fab up something very similar to the stock one, but less cumbersome and less intrusive. its jsut so ugly underhood! I'm hoping for something to work as well or better and look nicer too!

IMO the stocker looks great, looks even better with a spoon snorkel and a cooling plate!!

af's were logged on the AEM so they are not on the dyno chart. i tuned them to around 13.0 - 13.2. i was able to go as lean as 13.8 with no knock however it didnt make any more power at 13.8 compared to 13.2 and i'd rather take the safety of 13.0 - 13.2.

Started ordering parts this week for the custom intake...new results to follow soon. Data logs from the EMS show manifold pressures at 104 kPa @ 4000 rpm but they steadily decline to 99 kPa by 9000 rpm. thats a 5% drop in intake pressure which translates into 5% power/torque drop. hopefully the new setup will help eliminate some of this.
