JDM is all around you...

You feel it when you pay your taxes, when you go to work...

Did you know that in the beginning real JDM was too perfect, people denied it, and whole crops were lost...

But I believe JDM is defined through misery and suffering...

(don't take this seriously, I'm just having fun thinking of old Matrix quotes.)

Hmmm...you guys have got me rethinking my interpretation of JDM.

I always thought JDM referred to parts that:

a) Are made in Japan
b) Are mostly outrageously priced
c) Made you wait for months on end to receive
d) Made you a god in the eyes of high school kids, web board trolls, and FOBs everywhere
e) Would maintain one hell of a resale value
f) Are rare on most cars, probably due to b)
g) Are sometimes produced by a company with a funny name (after being translated into English)

and most importantly,

g) Are reinterpreted as being non-JDM by idiotic, 21 year old Civic owners who supposedly own their own parts business

Am I wrong?

so if a consumer bought a RHD front clip and had it installed, wouldn't it be a USDM/JDM vehicle??

Salty, just show him the receipts for all of the work done to your car. He probably hasn't sold enough parts through his entire store to match what you've done. He sounds like a typical, Honda-Tech posting 40 year-old driving a $2000 hatch.

JDM is a lifestyle

But on a real note I think JDM means different! What do we all want to say my car is one of a kind. I think it sucks when your in your car and the same car with the same parts pulls up next to you and you guys just wave to each other. I like my car to have rare parts on it so you know it's MY CAR and YOU wonder how i got that! When i was in japan i was walking down the street and their were two cars next to each other a R34 Skyline and a mustang new body style alll the japs were druling over the mustang and i had to walk away cause of the stiffy the skyline gave me! A MUSTANG c'mon it was stock(not dissing mustang guys)! Just that they don't see much of those over there. Rare is what we all go for in our case(honda) JDM is the biggest market for us to get "RARE" parts. Sorry for the long speach a just want to express myself. JDM USDM GDM = Whatever you want it to be just be unique and as one of a kind

Dont jump on the ban wangon aNd bE JdM yO!

off topic here: why USDM? What is the "domestic" mean? Why not just USM or USEM (export from the Japanese point of view) or USIM (import from the US point of view)?
