sorry if i sound like a noob but wheres the lock nut? is this why my shift knob right now is not perfectly squared up?

 

Yeah if you look directly under the shift knob itself.. you'll see an upside down nutt. The nutt and knob thread against each other to lock the knob in place. You should be able to easily straighten yours just by loosening the nutt, straighten the knob and retighten the nutt.

Wow and I thought my Team Voodoo Ti shift knob was a splurg at $150!

You can use a drop of blue loctite instead of the lock nut. Place a drop on the threads, screw it down lining up the shift pattern, and let it set over night.
