I decided to go with what most people recommended. There may be other ways to hook it up, but I'll stick with the "customary" method.

If that is the case, would I be correct to assume that when the fluid level gets to a certain point (which should take a long time) the catch can is no longer useful?
I never let mine go over half way. I always dumped it out before then in my wrx.

Here something to discuss... for those of you running catch tanks, how many of you are are running baffles inside. I ran a baffle on my wrx catch tank to allow more surface area for the blow by to attach to. I definitely noticed it catch more blowby with a baffle vs without a baffle.

I don't see how you could dump out any oil in the J's catch can--it is a sealed unit. Also, it should take a very long time for it to fill-up seeing as how little oil blow by is getting in it.

Wow, welcome to 2002. There are several threads on installation. No need to start yet another thread but be that as it may, there are a couple of "recommended" methods to connect the can. Young R's looks like one of them. There is another too.

that's strange. there has to be a way to empty it out... maybe you just have to drain it slowly through the intlet, but that seems highly inefficient.

I've already read the "primary" thread regarding catch can installations. Thanks. I created this thread to ask specific questions about the J's Racing oil catch can, which haven't been discussed/answered in other threads.

I don't know. The catch can is completely sealed. Like I said before though, it would take forever for the catch can to fill up because we are only talking about a few drops of oil here and there. It isn't like there is a steady stream of oil going through it.

All questions have been answered IMO.

SSmugen had traveled out to J's Racing Japan back in 2002-2003. He went out to Osaka to check out new parts back then and to buy some products while he was in Japan.

Anyway, one thing he did look at and ask them is the full installation on the Js can. They informed him there was a couple ways to do this.

They said for a street and daily driving application you only needed to use the front connection from the valve cover. The other one you leave alone. That way you get the very (almost nothing) blow by oil that comes out during your daily driving and you have the other connection on the can and use it as a dump off. So thats how a lot of us used it since we daily drived the car and for the fact that J's Racing Japan recommended this. If you do the track application method as Young R has done make sure your intake manifold is capped securely since you dont want bogging issues.

So whats the question here? To us its pretty cut and dry. No need to make rocket science out of it when there is one way for daily driving and one way for track application.
I installed my catch can the way most people did in this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...T&f=22&t=89869

Majority opinion indicates that is the way to go. The questions I posed in my initial post were:

1. Is there a difference between the two nipples?
2. What is the purpose of the clear tube on the catch can side of the can?
3. How much fluid should be in the coolant resevoir?

These three questions are specific to the J's Racing catch can.
