Default Stock exhaust - is it restrictive?

Sometimes I like the noise of the HKS Silent Hi-Power, then sometimes on a long run I want rid of it!

I doubt its doing anything but saving weight and making noise / looking nice.

Anyone disagree? Anyone got a good state of tune out of the stock system?

yeh stock exhaust on NA is usually for noise, bling and weight. you do get some HP with single.

For a dual it's not restrictive, as just switching to an aftermarket dual without test-pipe will yield hardly any gains. It is very heavy though.

The stock exhaust is one of the BEST stock exhausts ever made. Its just heavy as shit! Flow is great, no dual gains anything +3 can be dyno error. The ONLY reason to stay dual but switch from stock is WEIGHT
If you want any form of power gain from exhaust, you must run a single..This is FACT gentleman.
I run Mugen ECU, Intake, Toda Header, test pipe and stock exhaust, my car is VERY strong. I had a spoon exhaust, but after 3 yr I started losing my hearing (seriously). When I put stock exhaust back on car, I lost a bit of power, but did gain a bit of torque. I just can not justify the money for a Mugen, Amuse, J's dual. Even thought they will save a ton of weight, there is NO power gain. The weight saved really only matters if you are a track guy.

Just put on a J's 60 single exhaust. Feels a little more responsive on the highway and sounds really good. Did not feel a tremendous amount of difference. Looks, sound and weight, thats about it.
