Very cool that they are 2 piece - however I bet the price reflects that. Not because they are more quality - but because they know they can get more for them because people will want convenience.

I still say it's outright criminal to charge what these companies are charging for a couple small pieces of metal.

I just put in the motorklasse spacers yesterday. that's pretty cool that the T1Rs are 2 piece. that would make it easier to install. It took me almost 2 hours...I'd say I could do those 2 piece kind in about 20 minutes.
While the 2-pc ones look easier to install, I will time myself when my J's arrive in less than two weeks. I promise you it will not take me 2 hrs. That's from the time I roll the jack under the car to the time I'm ready to drive off with an ill-aligned car.

FF2Skip,
It took 2 hours because I had to go get a ball joint separator tool from the Auto parts store. The 2 piece type wouldn't require you to separate the ball joints so that's where the time savings would come from.

I don't see how your car will be ill-aligned.....It doesn't change your alignment at all. The hub is still supported exactly the same as it was before. The only change is that the axle is slightly closer to the wheel then before you started. If you're changing the alignment you're doing something wrong.

All your doing is pushing the tripod bearing back into the cup where it belongs. In reality your moving the bearing cup / buckets not really the bearings. The 1/2 shaft moving shouldn't affect the alignment at all. Should it?

Hmm, does it really affect the alignment?

Dude, I don't know how to prove it to you, but your alignment does not change. Think of it as if this mod is making your diff 7.5mm wider on each side. That does not change the track width. CV joints, by definition, have movement inwards and outwards, unlike U joints which just rotate. When you loosen the bolts holding the axles to the diff, it will make perfect sense to you. You'll be able to pull the axle away from the diff and slide the spacers in. And, when you move the axles away from the diff slightly, I promise you that your wheels will not move outwards as well.

This does not change the alignment of the wheels.

I will accept that, and I've been wrong before.

But considering I just replaced my cv housings/joints, hubs, bearings, and installed the TCDesign anti-bumpsteer kit myself this past weekend, I'm pretty sure I have a good idea of how things "look" when unbolted.
