Default T1R test pipe...

Hey everyone,

Before i crawl under the S and take off the cat i want to make sure i have everything necessary for the install.

Can i reuse stock bolts?

Do i need new gaskets? Ill prob reuse the donut gasket. what about the rear of the test pipe...gasket?

Ill be using the stock exhaust btw!....for now

Brad

Yeah ..I just ordered my T1R last week from AJ racing and they left out the hardware..so i called them and they shipped it to me next day air...

My car felt a little sluggish before(thinking it was because of the heat here in Vegas)...but after the install the car felt a little faster....thinking it gave me about 15-20whp...

yes.... you do need the gasket for the back part...

Peace
David

You can re-use the metal "donut" gasket at the front, but since the stock cat mates onto a pressed ring gasket on the exhaust pipe, this won't seal with the testpipe. You need a "triangular" gasket when doing this mod.

Looks like the above and the T1R usually comes with it.

I personally went to Autozone, Pep Boys and Napa and non of them had that gasket. I ended getting one from a NYC metro member but I think common speed shops usually have some laying around. Good luck!

I am also about to fit this beauty to my S. I am also going to re-use the forward donut gasket. Also to re-itterate one of the questions before can you re-use the stock bolts that pass through the springs at the forward end?

No sealing compounds or anything similar is required for the install as long as you have the gaskets right? - silly question?!?!

I think torque setting for the forward bolts is 22 Nm / 16 lbf ft and 44 Nm / 33 lbf ft for the O2 sensor, can anyone verify this??

Thanks

You re-use the spring bolts and nuts, however, the torque on them will be difficult to measure as those things get badly corroded. Just cinch them up till they compress the spring to about the same amount as when you took them off. Use liberal amounts of pentrant before removing so you don't risk breaking something. This will also aid in re-installation later.
Don't obsess too much on torques. You're not going to be able to easily put a torque wrench onto an O2 sensor anyway. Just know that whatever torque you put on anything to do with the exhaust system, will tighten as the heat and road debris start to work on them. Just make sure they are "tight enough" to begin with. Use a bit off anti-seize on the threads of the sensor before putting it in.

OP,yeah they sent me the bolts n nuts with the gasket.I got mine from AJR aslo but they forgot to ship the hardware for the install the first time.I gave them a call and they next dayed it to me.I tried autozone also but couldn't find a thick enough gasket. The picture xviper posted is exactly what the T1R gasket should look like.
