Temperature problem with gears?

Guy's I'm considering installing 4:57 gears in my car. Should i be concerned with overheating at all?

What exactly do you mean by this? And how would you tell? (I can tell on my car. Just wondering how you will be able to tell.) The fact that Honda made a casing with cooling fins on it, means that the designers wanted to have a way of dissipating some heat. I believe Spoon even makes an aftermarket casing where the fins are huge.

Sorry-my post may be confusing. I meant would there be any problems with the engine overheating due to the 4:57 gear ratio?

No. Your engine rpm will be 11.5% higher at any given road speed in the same gear. For around town, you may simply find it more comfortable to drive in one higher gear than you normally would. For highway cruising, 11.5% would only represent approx. 500 rpm more (70 mph or so). This is quite inconsequential as far as the engine cooling system goes.

Thanks Viper!
