Default Toda ITB's

Ive been doing a lot of reading on ITB's because im thinking about going this route instead of turbo. Anyway, ive been looking into the 50mm Hayward ITB's because their is a little bit more information about them.

I like Toda, and if i go ITB's i rather have the Todas because of their reputation. Does anyone have any information about the toda itbs? The site doesn't even have a price, or information about base maps to tune them.

They are on seemingly permanent delay. Toda Japan has been advertising them for about two years and they still dont sell them to the public in Japan or in North America.

With that being said, I can get a set through ASM in Japan that are sold as race use only ITBs. The problem is that the cost right now is something like 8x the regular price because Toda doesnt want to sell them yet.

In short, I recommend to keep waiting, as frustrating as that may be.

waiting is good advice, because i still have a lot to learn about this. i can't afford to go turbo, so its ITB's or a super charger right now.

you seriously need to do more research. An ITB set-up cost just as much as doing a supercharger and bolt on turbo kit in most instances. The Toda set-up from what I can see requires a lot of work to get it to run compared to the off-the shelf stuff being sold in the US and Canada.

yes i know, i started looking into builing a motor...

it pays to build the head while you switch to ITB's...In the long run a n/a setup properly built and tuned will be in the forced induction price range...i have a lot to think about, but hopefully this thread will help some others out...

a lot of people online have the misconception that ITB's will give sick amounts of power when they do not...

by themselves? no that's not possible. Proper headwork, cams, tuning, etc you can get in the 250rwhp range, I am sure of it. But at what point is that attributed to the ITBs and not the other stuff?

no, i know this...

a lot of people that post ITB threads i have been noticing that they think they will yield sick amounts of power, but no one has posted building the motor...

if i went ITB's i would build the head probably withToda valves, springs and cams...i was also thinking about stroking the block, and raising the compression. after i started thinking about that, i could have th elovefab turbo kit installed with all that money. im still thinking it out. it can't hurt to learn in the process...

Am interesting of fitting TODA's ITB or general an ITB on my engine but I cant find anything available! If you could point me links I would be very happy. The reason of fitting one might sound silly, but the sound that the engine produces is unbelievable. Sounds like an F1 car!

But I dont intend on just fitting ITB's only but to custom develop the whole engine.

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Maybe Hayward can help you out?

It is good that you plan more than just ITBs, imho the minimum entry requirement would be stand-alone engine management (AEM EMS, Motec etc.). Also, in case you are interested, as per the AEM manual ITBs should be tuned on throttle position / rpm.
