I am going. I really don't feel like it but I said I would and I figure they will probably be short of instructors.

On the other hand, I will be running Advan S.4 high performance All season tires so maybe I'll have the fastest tires out there.

So here is the TRACK question of the day:

You are preparing your car for the next event. You had fairly severe fluid overheating (soggy pedal) at the last event so you are bleeding your brakes. You start the process and go down into the super secure parts vault (wifey would call it the "basement" ) and find to your dismay that you only have two choices for brake fluid! Note: you do not have time to run out and get any good stuff.

Choice 1) An almost full (but opened) can of GS610. GS610 is a hi-end $40 per bottle race fluid. You know that bottle although opened has been screwed closed tightly. You also know the bottle has been there unsealed for about 6 months.

Choice 2) Unopened (sealed) bottle of Valvoline Dot 3. This is NOT the old Valvoline Synpower fluid which worked so well before they discontinued it; rather this is the new stuff that comes in the white and blue bottle. It sucks, I had a soggy pedal halfway through a 2 day event in a Miata!

Which do you use?

I choose #1 (opened GS610) because I know that the Valvoline sucks and will not hold up at the track while I do not know how much moisure is in the GS610 so it might be decent or might not. On the other hand, with a wet track and 40 degree temps it no longer matters what brake fluid I used, Gaterade would probably work fine in these conditions.

It'll be wet, so I would get rid of the open stuff. If you haven't put it in a zip-lock bag, it's no better than the unopened stuff. Since it'll be wet, you're not going to burning up fluid like on dry days..
