You flew the F-15? Was it amazing?
I flew the F-15 right after Air Force pilot training. Later I flew trainers and the C-141. Flying the F-15 was amazing but it's impossible to describe. It's kind of like trying to tell someone that's never been in a race car what that's like. When celebrities are given rides in fighter jets they are never subjected to the violence of combat air maneuvers. They get a joy ride with a few aerobatics and still end up getting sick. In pilot training we occasionally pulled 7 Gs for a second or two in the T-38, but the F-15 could pull 9 Gs for several minutes because of it's huge engines. The first time I pulled 9 Gs my skin turned red from all the capillaries bursting under the strain but your body does get used to it and it almost becomes mundane.
9G's. The government really is ahead of private sector.

My phone isn't even 4G, yet.
Chuch Norris can do 10G's with out blinking.

Anyone thinking of going to VIR in May with Trackdaze? I need a roommate and I want to plan early this time, so something doesn't come up like usual.

Do you have a room at the lodge?

Hi, I'm new here. So I'm looking to get into an S2000 this spring and have tracked my RSX a few times. I started shoppin last weekend and think I found a nice 03 to pick up. I only plan on doing HPDEs in the car, and have no aspirations for Time Attack or Honda Challenge. I am familiar with the rollbar requirements in the Mid-A, thogh I found it funny at Summit Point (TrackDaze) last year there was an Aston running with no aftermarket bar, and they passed tech b/c of the pop-up rollover protection.

I know this has probably been debated/talked about ad nauseum, but I thought I'd ask just because of overall ease of install and keeping the interior in-tact, and don't plan on doing seats/harnesses. Can I pass tech locally (VIR, Summit, and NJMP) with a Safety21 bar, or do I absolutely need to go with the Hard Dog? What is the stance on diagonals, are they required?

I'd prefer to go with the safety21 for that install/interior part, but I understand that might not be an option.

Welcome.

It seems that most organizations just want you to have "a roll bar" for HPDE, so in that sense the Safety21 should get you out there. That said there is the occasianal track day on the Shenendoah circuit at Summit Point that will allow you to run with out a bar and I have seen people run without a bar at SCCA PDX events at Summit Main if they have an OEM hardtop.

I ran a safety 21 with a harness bar for a few years, passed all tech.

Diagonal requirements are usually for race series.

This was before there was a Harddog bar and the short lived Elda bar and after the Bitterman bar that was only available in CA I think.

I never rolled my S2000 so I am unsure of it's actual safety.

Welcome!

The rules about roll bar requirement have been changing lately. It's always a good idea to call the event sponsor for the particular HPDE event you want to attend and get the name of your POC to back up your information. NASA is the only HPDE sponsor organization that I know of that requires an SCCA approved type of rollbar in their track events.

If all you want is to get by the roll bar requirement and not worry much about rollover protection (in case of...), I guess a Safety21 will get by in most of the event coordinators or organization. Just to clarify my statement , I'm not saying that Saftey21 does not offer roll over protection or you disregard safety. I'm just basing my statement from what I thought you wanted to know.

I guess what it comes down to is, to ask yourself. What is your safety level?

Have fun and see you out there,
