Yay! I hear the Autocrossers Inc. events in Waldorf are really good for beginners.

I'm going to try and go to the event on the 9th.

The Wilmington events are in Ohio, not Delaware. Unfortunately.

There's also a jersey tour May 3-4, though no Dover tour this year, and BMWCCA whose events are listed here:

My bad. Fixed it.

I thought there was a Solo Tour event in Delaware last year, which led to that assumption.

My favorite events are the SCCA events at FedEx field, just because the courses are large, easier to read (but difficult to master), and allow for the highest speed. These ones are the most crowded though, and will have the most serious competitors, with the exception of the Pro Solo. That being said, they do welcome beginners at these events, and you will have the opportunity to learn from the best. These events have an instructor walk through the course with you, telling you pretty much everything you need to know.

For beginners I'd recommend either an SCCA event or a Capital Driving Club event. The crowds at CDC are medium-sized, but it's a very friendly gathering, which free sodas/water and a grill you can buy food from. Any of those events are good for starters, but the courses at Harry Grove in Frederick are very confined, making them difficult to read and potentially adding a concern for spinning onto the grass (which has only happened 2-3 times that I know of).

The best event for a beginner is your first one! Just come to the first one you can make it to, no worries
