Default Accident on Friday

Hey All,

My wife got into an accident on Friday. She's okay and everyone involved is ok, but there is extensive damage to her car. Like I said, the great thing is she's ok. A little sore on her neck and back, but she received acupuncture treatment on Saturday and she's feeling a lot better.

Thankfully, my insurance company, Progressive, has been great. Couldn't ask for more from them. I called them and within 30 mins of the accident, they gave me a claim number, and got the car towed to a Sterling bodyshop and they are taking care of everything. No hassle. The accident happened in Alexandria. They had to tow it on a flatbed. I didn't have a camera with me, but all of the airbags deployed (front, passenger, side airbags), the front of the car is mangled, the left side of the car is pretty messed up too. A and B pillars on the left side are slightly bent and there are damages from the front of the vehicle to the back (on the left side).

They are sending out an adjustor today to get an estimate. What a weekend....

Glad to hear your wife is okay. That matters most! Also good to know Progressive is taking good care of you.

Glad your wife is ok. Cars can be replaced. Make sure she has no lingering discomfort as my wife got rear ended years ago and had to go for extensive treatments for over a year. Insurance of driver who rear ended her paid for everything!!

Sorry to hear of your wife's accident -- hope she does well and that you also do not suffer any financial loss. I'm really glad she not injured any more than she apparently was.

Yeah, accidents are really a drag. I was in one as a passenger a few years ago and was sore for days afterwards. Fortunately nothing more serious. You get thrown around more than you realize. Glad your wife is OK. Are you all planning to go to Fall Colors? She might want to keep up the acupuncture for a few treatments.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Laura is doing much better now...she got just one treatment of acupuncture and her neck and back are feeling fine. Although she is still taking some pain killers and got a massage to rub out the tense spots.

Well as of this morning, I still don't know the damage estimate. I'm actually hoping that they declare it a total loss. I just don't feel too comfortable driving a car that was repaired after heavy damage. (Bad experience in the past) We'll see.

Good luck with that. Hotrodjohn had his S wrecked by his son and for awhile they were going to fix it. Then they declared it a total loss. Much better that way. But I think a couple of other members had accidents and were pleased with the repairs. Depends on how bad the damage and where it is located. Nice if you don't have to fight with your insurance company either.

MS2KJ:

Sorry to learn about the accident, but very happy to learn that your wife is OK. One can always buy a new vehicle.

In fact, that is how I wound up being an S2000 owner. My wife totaled our Toyota back on April 15. We needed a replacement vehicle and she wanted a Hybrid Civic sedan. We called a few dealers and found out that they are made out of "unobtainium". We wanted a five speed and would have taken four months to get one. But the dealer had a Suzuka sitting on the show room floor.

Emoticons are in the order of my feelings as I typed this:

I to i'm glad to here your wife is ok But what is the bottom line.Is she at fault, did she cause the accident? Is she able to handle such a car as the s2000? I myself would sell the car if it was not a total loss. S2000's are not a car for the inexperienced or the impaired! There are schools you can both go to. I wish i had the money to do so. Then i would be able to run my S2000 to its full potential with less fear. Age also becomes a factor as in my case. These cars are equal to the formula 1 cars of the late 50's & early 60's. Please stay within your limits,if you can.
