Default AEM Cold Air Intake

Hey guys!!

Previous owner of mine installed AEM Cold Air Intake. Pipe comes all the way down to front left corner and that's where the filter is located.

Should I keep it? or should I just change it back to stock intake? I have heard some stories about cold air intake being useless and it sux and stuff.

I know nothing about it...

Please help!!!!

Thanks in advance~~!!!

Everyone's going to have an opinion on this. Mine is that the stock air box is completely adequate for an otherwise stock engine. The only thing you 'gain' on a stock setup is the opportunity to hydro lock. Whether its likely/unlikely/1-in-a-million you still have greater odds than with a stock air box.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the community.

Hey thats the exact car I wouldv'e bought.

Yeah, like Aaron said, there are many opinions on the CAI. Here is what you are going to hear.

"I have been running mine for X number of years with no problem"

and

"CAI makes you more prone to hydrolock"

Then it will dissolve into a pissing match about the chances of hydrolock (how deep the puddle must be, the amount of rain, driving habits, do you use your car as a submarine, etc.)

In the end, it is up to you and the chances you want to take, regardless of the reality of those chances.

Hope this helps and welcome.

For me, X=7, no issues, decreased heat soak, decreased bogging, etcetera etcetera...

I have the K&N and enjoy the sound, plus I do believe a few more HP. I don't know how the the two compare, but I wouldn't change it, uunless you experience a problem.

Welcome!

X=~6 years too

Only problem is that the filter is considerably more difficult to get to and you really do need to keep up on filter maintenance. Speaking of which...
